He writes of his hope for a visit to the United States within the next two or three years and the prospects for evangelizing in California and establishing a "Mission to the Catholiks [sic] of that country who are of Mexican stock...." He also writes of difficulties working with "the [Church] Board", his longing to leave the island and "...labor for the benefit of people who possess some elements of civilization. The Polynesian race I fear will never be civilized", Polynesian native habits, and the Mexican War with news of General Scott "at the gates of Mexico...." Also includes typescript transcription of letter.
