Este libro se dirige a los alumnos de los primeros cursos de Ingeniería que inician el estudio de la Termodinámica. Sirve de fundamento para posteriores estudios en las áreas de máquinas y motores térmicos y de energía. La obra se estructura en ocho capítulos. El primero introduce al estudiante en los conceptos fundamentales de la Termodinámica Técnica. Los capítulos segundo a quinto presentan el Primer y el Segundo Principio de la Termodinámica tanto en sistemas cerrados como en sistemas abiertos y cíclicos; en ellos se presta una atención especial a los sistemas abiertos (volúmenes de control), pues son los más usuales en las aplicaciones de Ingeniería. Por último, se abordan las aplicaciones técnicas industriales: el sexto capítulo contiene una introducción a los sistemas energéticos y los capítulos séptimo y octavo estudian las mezclas de gases no reactivas (Psicrometría) y reactivas (combustión). Asimismo, el libro presenta un enfoque esencialmente práctico, aunque ofrece pequeñas introducciones teóricas, pues incluye numerosos problemas y ejercicios completamente resueltos, algo difícil de encontrar en otros textos de Termodinámica. Ello permite a los alumnos capacitarse en la resolución de ejercicios, aprendiendo a la vez los conceptos teóricos. En definitiva, este texto es una excelente herramienta que permite a los alumnos adquirir las competencias necesarias para abordar con garantías estudios más profundos en los ámbitos de la energía y los motores y máquinas térmicas.
