La obediencia nocturna (1969) es la obra más importante de Juan Vicente Melo (1932-1996). Se trata de una novela trascendental en la narrativa mexicana no sólo por su temática inusual, sino por la complejidad de su arquitectura fragmentaria. En una suerte de ejercicio órfico, el lector debe descender a las tinieblas del mundo ebrio y onírico que creó Melo.
