To what extent do minority writers feel represented by the literary canon of a nation and its body of "great works"? To what extent do they adhere to, or contest, the supposedly universal values conveyed through those texts and how do they situate their own works within the national tradition? Building on Edward W. Said’s contrapuntal readings and Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak’s reflections on the voice of the subaltern, this monograph examines the ways in which Rafik Schami, Emine Sevgi Özdamar, and Feridun Zaimoglu have re-read, challenged, and adapted the German canon. Similar to other writers in postcolonial contexts, their work on the canon entails an inquiry into history and a negotiation of their relation to the texts and representations that define the "host" nation. Through close analyses of the works of these non-native German authors, the book investigates the intersection between politics, ethics, and aesthetics in their work, focusing on the appropriation and re-evaluation of cultural legacies in German-language literature. Opening up a rich critical dialogue with scholars of German Studies and Postcolonial Theory, Christine Meyer provides a fresh perspective on German-language minority literature since the reunification.

'One in four people in Germany today have a so-called migration background, however, the relationship between theatre and migration there has only recently begun to take centre stage. Indeed, fifty years after large-scale Turkish labour migration to the Federal Republic of Germany began, theatre by Turkish-German artists is only now becoming a consistent feature of Germany’s influential state-funded theatrical landscape. Drawing on extensive archival and field work, this book asks where, when, why, and how plays engaging with the new realities of “postmigrant” Germany have been performed over the past 30 years. Focusing on plays by renowned artists Emine Sevgi Özdamar, and Feridun Zaimoglu/Günter Senkel, it asks which new realities have been scripted in the theatrical sphere in the process – in the imaginations of playwrights, readers, audience members; in the enactment and direction of scripts on stage; and in the performance of new institutional approaches and cultural policies. Highlighting the role this theatre has played in a larger, ongoing re-scripting of the German stage, this study presents a critical perspective on contemporary European theatre and opens innovative developments in the conceptualization of theatre and post/migration from the German context to English language readers.

Prof. Dr. Arif ÜNAL, 01.04.1953 tarihinde (nüfus kâğıdında böyle yazılsa da gerçekte 04.02.1953 tarihinde), Konya’ya bağlı Bozkır ilçesinin Armutlu Köyü’nde dünyaya gelmiştir. 12 kardeşi olan Arif Ünal, ailesinin 6. çocuğudur. 02.11.1980 tarihinde Nursel Hanım’la dünya evine giren Ünal, ikisi erkek biri kız olmak üzere üç evlat ve dört torun sahibidir. 30 yıllık evli olan çiftin ilk çocuğu ve ailenin büyük oğlu olan Salih Ünal, evli olup iki çocuk sahibidir ve Pendik Belediyesi bünyesinde Avukatlık mesleğini yapmaktadır. Ünal’ın kızı Gülsüm Ünal, öğretmenlik mezunu olup, evli ve iki çocuk sahibidir. Ailenin en küçüğü Rıfkı Ünal ise bu yıl Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi Grafik Bölümü’nde Arş. Gör. Olarak görev yapmaya başlamıştır. Ailesinin gurur kaynağı olan başarılı çalışmalara imza atan Rıfkı Ünal “3 İstasyon 1 Ömür” (2017) adlı kısa filmiyle belgesel dalında ulusal ve uluslararası ödüller kazanmıştır. İlkokulu doğduğu Armutlu Köyü’nde 1966 yılında tamamlayan Prof. Dr. Arif Ünal, ortaokul ve lise tahsilini Konya’da 1975 yılında bitirmiştir. Daha ortaokul yıllarındayken Almanca’ya büyük ilgi duyan Ünal’ın bu ilgi ve merakı lise yıllarında tam bir tutkuya dönüşür ve daha lise öğrenimi gördüğü bu yıllardayken Alman Filolojisi’nde okumaya karar verir. 1975 yılında Erzurum Atatürk Üniversitesi Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümü’nü kazanarak, verdiği bu kararı hayata geçirir. Severek, isteyerek, çalışıp azmederek kazandığı Filoloji Bölümü’nde öğrenim gördüğü dönemde, başarılı öğrencilerin yaz döneminde DAAD kanalıyla burslu olarak kursa gönderildiklerini öğrenir. Seçtiği bu ikinci hedefine de 1978 yılında DAAD bursunu kazanıp Bochum Üniversitesi’ne giderek ulaşır. 1979 yılında Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı Bölümünü bitirir. Öğrenim gördüğü yıllarda gittikçe daha büyük bir tutkuyla bağlandığı Filolojide akademisyen olma kararı alır. Üçüncü ve en büyük hedefi olan bu konuda lisans sonrasında türlü girişimlerde bulunur, ancak bu hedefine ilk etapta ulaşamaz. Lisans öğrenimini bitirdiği 1979 yılında Mardin’e Almanca öğretmeni olarak atanır ve İmam Hatip Lisesi’nde çalışmaya başlar. Ancak akademisyen olma hedefinden asla vazgeçmez, bir yandan akademisyenlik sınavlarına hazırlanır. Nitekim 1980 yılının Şubat ayında hem Atatürk Üniversitesi’ne bağlı Van Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi asistanlık sınavını, hem de Malatya İnönü Üniversitesi Temel Bilimler Fakültesi Almanca okutmanlık sınavını kazanarak, üçüncü hedefine de tam on ikiden ulaşır. 6 ay öğretmenlik yaptıktan sonra 10.06.1980 tarihinde Erzurum Atatürk Üniversitesi’nde Asistan olarak göreve başlar. 1981 yılının Ekim ayında Doç. Dr. Selçuk Ünlü nezaretinde doktora ön-çalışmasına başlayan Ünal, 1983 yılında bu çalışmasını tamamlayarak doktora çalışması yapmaya hak kazanır. Bu süreçte Atatürk Üniversitesi Van Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi, yeni kurulan Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesine bağlandığı için 1983 yılında Van’a nakil olur. Aynı yıl DAAD’ın verdiği bir yıllık araştırma bursunu kazanarak Eski Federal Almanya’ya gider. Bir yılın sonunda bursu bir yıl daha uzatılır ve Würzburg Üniversitesi’nde doktora teziyle ilgili araştırmalarına devam eder. Bursun bittiği 1985 yılının Temmuz ayı sonunda Türkiye’ye geri döner ve Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesinde çalışmaya devam eder. 1987 yılı Mayıs ayında Prof. Dr. Selçuk Ünlü yönetiminde doktora çalışmasını tamamlar. 1988 yılında Yardımcı Doçentliğe ve aynı zamanda Batı Dilleri ve Edebiyatları Bölümü Başkanlığına da atanan Ünal, Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı bölümünü aktif hale getirme ve bölüme öğrenci alma çalışmalarını yürütür. Bölüm Başkanı olarak kurduğu bölüme kendi çocuğu gibi özveriyle emek harcayan Ünal, sık sık Ankara’daki Alman Kültür Merkezi ve Büyükelçiliğe giderek temaslarda bulunur. Almanya’da 94’de gerçekleşen bir Germanistler toplantısında yetkililerle görüşerek oradaki Internationes’den, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft’tan randevu alır ve bölüm için çok önemli kaynak kitaplar temin edilmesinde öncülük eder. Bu aktif çalışmalar neticesinde 1993 yılında 25 öğrenci ile Alman Dili ve Edebiyatı bölümünde eğitim-öğrenime başlanır. Ancak 1998 yılında sınav sisteminin değişmesiyle Türkiye’deki birçok Almanca bölümü gibi Van’a da öğrenci akışı durur. 1995 yılında DAAD’ın bursuyla 2 aylığına tekrar Almanya’ya giderek ve doçentlik çalışmaları için kaynak araştırması yapar. 1999 yılında Doçent olarak atanır. 2000 yılında araştırma yapmak amacıyla yine DAAD’ın bursuyla iki aylığına Almanya’ya gider. 2008 yılının Mart ayında Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesinde Profesörlüğe atanır.

Wir feiern 60 Jahre TEXT+KRITIK – und tanzen aus der Reihe! – mit einem besonderen Heft noch unveröffentlichter Texte von Autorinnen und Autoren, deren literarischem Schaffen und Wirken eine Ausgabe der Zeitschrift gewidmet wurde. Ein Band mit jenen Stimmen, die für Redaktion und Herausgeber maßgeblich die deutschsprachige Gegenwartsliteratur in ihrer großen Vielfalt ausmachen. 2023 wird die Zeitschrift TEXT+KRITIK 60 Jahre alt. Im Frühjahr 1963 erschien das erste Heft zu Günter Grass – aus der Taufe gehoben von dem damals 22-jährigen Heinz Ludwig Arnold, der die Reihe Zeit seines Lebens herausgab. Seit 2011 wird TEXT+KRITIK von einem seit vielen Jahren eingespielten Redaktionsgremium und wechselnden Herausgeberinnen und Herausgebern in bewährter und erfolgreicher Weise weitergeführt. Nelle quasi tre decadi trascorse dal crollo del Muro di Berlino le relazioni tra est e ovest dell’Europa hanno subito cambiamenti profondi. L’apertura delle vecchie frontiere e il proseguimento del processo d’integrazione europea che ha seguito la fine della Guerra fredda e della divisione ideologica ha riportato vigorosamente l’est al centro della sfera d’interesse occidentale, ridefinendo le stesse categorie di est e ovest e dando vita a nuove topografie culturali.L’obiettivo comune dei contributi raccolti nel volume L’est nell’ovest è quello d’indagare i cambiamenti e le continuità di significato dello sguardo occidentale verso l’est, e di quello orientale verso l’ovest, attraverso l’analisi delle rappresentazioni letterarie all’interno dei diversi discorsi nazionali e transnazionali.
