There are certain books of the Bible that just seem to stand out and the Gospel of John is surely one such book. It is frequently the first book of the Bible we encourage non-Christians to read in the hope that its message will lead them to faith in Christ. After all, that is the purpose of the book. See John 20:31.For Christians, the Gospel of John is a source of much truth about our Lord and the Gospel. But it is much more than that. It is an opportunity for us to follow Him as we read, and to identify with the disciples as their knowledge of Him continues to expand. It is our opportunity to get to know the heart of the Savior, and to fellowship with Him through His Word. If men of old found their hearts set on fire as they listened to Him teach in person (Luke 24:32), so we will find our hearts warmed as we seek to listen to Him through this Gospel.I challenge you to join me in making the Gospel of John the subject of your study. May God use it to help you see and serve Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).

It appears to be important, and they'd like to know more about it. But they want a full, understandable explanation, not a simplistic one. What Is Reformed Theology? is an accessible introduction to beliefs that have been immensely influential in the evangelical church. In this insightful book, R. C. Exalting Jesus in John is part of the Christ-Centered Exposition Commentary series. Edited by David Platt, Daniel L. Akin, and Tony Merida, this new commentary series, projected to be 48 volumes, takes a Christ-centered approach to expositing each book of the Bible. Rather than a verse-by-verse approach, the authors have crafted chapters that explain and apply key passages in their assigned Bible books. Readers will learn to see Christ in all aspects of Scripture, and they will be encouraged by the devotional nature of each exposition presented as sermons and divided into chapters that conclude with a “Reflect & Discuss” section, making this series ideal for small group study, personal devotion, and even sermon preparation. It’s not academic but rather presents an easy reading, practical and friendly commentary. The author of Exalting Jesus in John is Matt Carter and Josh Wredberg.

The apostle John is second only to Paul in his contribution to the New Testament scriptures. For various reasons we accept that he is the author of the fourth Gospel, and not the least among them is his intimate knowledge of the Lord himself, 2.24, 4.1, 19.28, and of the holy land, 1.28, 2.1, 3.23. In addition, he knows the disciples in a special way, pretending that he was an eyewitness, 1.40, 6.8. But Juan makes no mention of himself. In considering the specific way in which he names people, we have to come to the conclusion that it is who is not named in 13.23 ("one of the disciples, whom Jesus loved"), 20.2 ("the other disciple" ran to the tomb), etc. If someone else had written this Gospel, it would have been strange for him to omit the name of such a well-known person as the Apostle John. The Gospel was written towards the end of the 1st century when John was of advanced age. He remembers in great detail the glorious days of his youth when he walked with the Son of God. His is the last of the Gospels and he takes it for granted that his readers are already aware of certain notorious facts. Define the reason for his narration: as "so that believing, you may have life in his name", 20.30, 31. From the abundance of available material, the apostle carefully chooses certain details, so that we believe that Jesus is the fulfillment of ancient prophecies, and more than this, the Son of God. For John, the Messiah has the nature of God himself and by believing in him men can rejoice in the possession of eternal life. Excerpt 21.24, 25 can be seen as a brief summary of the Gospel: "This is the disciple who testifies to these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I think that not even in the world the books that would be written would fit. Amen". It reminds us of the trustworthy testimony of John and the wonder of Christ, since by recording all that he did, the world could not contain him. If 20:30, 31 says that he wrote so that we may believe for a blessing, these two verses say that he wrote his testimony and the fullness of his inexhaustible theme. https: //amzn.to/2Xdtq2m

The Apostle John interwove many themes into the fabric of his gospel. Each one helps form the overall tapestry/message of the Gospel of John: ?that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name? (Jn. 20:31). This life is not just a theological concept, or a belief in the after-life. It is wrapped up from beginning to end in knowing God: ?Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent? (Jn. 17:3). This workbook examines nine of these major themes and three major discourses that are critical to understanding the message of the book?the message of life. These themes include: ? The Father/Son Relationship ? The Trial Theme ? The Theme of the Holy Spirit ? The Themes of Love, Glory, and Life, and more Each theme that John wove into the fabric of his book will help us know our Lord more completely and share His message of life.

John's gospel is unique. What makes it unique is the author, John, and the perspective he brings to the person and character of Jesus. John was Jesus's closest friend. You might say his best friend! Peter, James, and John were part of an inner circle that Jesus included exclusively. Only these three were allowed into the room when Jesus raised the synagogue official's daughter from the dead. Only these three were invited onto the mountain to witness his transfiguration experience. It was John that leaned on Jesus's breast at the Last Supper and was told who the betrayer was. And in Jesus's moment of deepest distress in the garden before his death, only these three were invited deep into the garden to pray with Jesus. But more than all that, John was the first disciple to be chosen and the only one at the very end. Only John was at the foot of the cross comforting Jesus's mother while the rest hid in fear. And it was because of John's unique relationship with Jesus that Jesus committed the care of his mother to him. John writes long after the other gospel letters had been distributed among the churches. John describes seven miracles, five unique to his gospel. John includes seven "I am" statements and is the only writer that uses the phrase "Truly, truly..." to underscore the extreme importance of these statements. John writes not as a follower, and not just as an eyewitness but as Jesus's best friend. And John writes for one single, specific purpose: "That you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name" (John 20:31). To miss this is to miss the very reason for your existence on this planet!

John's Gospel is like a great film or work of art. Each time one returns to the text, they come away with a greater understanding and discoveries. Because the Fourth Gospel has multiple layers, individuals will find joy and learning with each reading. One can return to the text repeatedly and never wholly uncover the treasure John has left for us.One ponders how a first-century fisherman from the north end of the Sea of Galilee created a book with such highly developed thought and depth. I believe John was a brilliant individual who co-authored the text with the Spirit.I am sharing what the Spirit has given me. Presenting what I have learned, making it accessible while letting the text speak. My purpose in writing this commentary is the same as the Apostle John's. The Gospel was "written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." John 20:31. This purpose is also directed at believers so that their faith may be increased. With faith comes life.An introductory fictional short story sets up the overall context for John's Gospel. The commentary uses plain English to unpack the meaning of each chapter of the Gospel. Fine art and other visuals are used to aid in understanding John's masterpiece.John's Gospel explains the mystery of Jesus unlike any other book of the Bible. This study provides an introduction for all who are curious.
