Courage and Kindness - What do these two words mean to you? We hear them often but seldom think of them as conjoined. We are entering a new world; a world where the kindness of humanity is suffering universally, and the courage needed to show this kindness is also under attack. There are decisions we must make if we hope to bring about a more loving and kind future. It should begin selflessly within the human heart and go beyond mere conversation about kindness to developing the courage to execute it. The Courage to be Kind. Do you have the Courage to be Kind? o If you have struggled with kindness, read this book! o Did you know God helps those who are sincerely kind? o What is it about sincerely kind people that others do not understand? o Are you tired of being kind, doing virtuous deeds, and feeling unappreciated? o Do you associate "niceness" and "kindness" with "weakness?" o Are you raising kind kids? o What is the difference between sincerely nice and kind people and nice and kind phony people? o Why do you feel hurt by those who misuse your kindness? o Have you ever been afraid to show your "nice" side?

Have you been at the grocery store and your child points at someone who looks different and asks loudly, "What's wrong with that person?" or "Why does he need a wheelchair?" Your first reaction is usually to hush your child and apologize to the person or hope he or she didn't notice. Telling a child to be quiet and not look can be shameful for both the child and the person with the difference. Instead of silencing our children and ignoring their curiosity, we should embrace uniqueness in a positive way. In The Courage to Be Kind, authors Jenny Levin and Rena Rosen teach children and parents how to act and respond when they see someone who looks different. Learn with Sam and Ellie as they encounter and interact with several kids in different ways. Ellie is blunt and often offensive. Sam tries to find common ground with each person and provides an example of how to behave. The dramatization of each difference includes photographs and a list of frequently asked questions so kids and parents can learn about various syndromes together. Through a series of scenarios, The Courage to Be Kind offers a tool to facilitate conversations about kindness and to teach with the art of compassion.

Here are readings for the full calendar year, with a Scripture passage for each day, a meditation and a prayer. Angus Buchan gave his life to Jesus on 18th February, 1979. Shortly afterwards a friend commented that there was something different in him: the old anger and aggression had been replaced by joy and peace. The following day, walking through the fields, his friend gave his life to his new-found Saviour. -He was the first person I had ever led to Jesus Christ,- recalls Angus. -I was an ambassador of Jesus Christ. I was new at it, but He gave me the words to say. All I had to do was to be obedient and share with my friend. The Holy Spirit did the rest.- Over the years Angus has striven hard to become an effective ambassador for his Lord. A popular speaker and author, he has addressed hundreds of thousands at rallies, and counselled people one by one, helping them to find faith and grow in spiritual stature. The core of his ministry has been his daily time alone with Jesus, usually in the very early morning, before the demands of the day push through his door. In this collection of daily devotions Angus shares the insights and convictions that have come to him as he has spent time with his Lord. It will help you to live a victorious Christian life in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Exemplarist Moral Theory written by Linda Zagzebski and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-02-24 with Philosophy categories.

In this book Linda Zagzebski presents an original moral theory based on direct reference to exemplars of goodness, modeled on the Putnam-Kripke theory which revolutionized semantics in the seventies. In Exemplarist Moral Theory, exemplars are identified through the emotion of admiration, which Zagzebski argues is both a motivating emotion and an emotion whose cognitive content permits the mapping of the moral domain around the features of exemplars. Using examples of heroes, saints, and sages, Zagzebski shows how narratives of exemplars and empirical work on the most admirable persons can be incorporated into the theory for both the theoretical purpose of generating a comprehensive theory, and the practical purpose of moral education and self-improvement. All basic moral terms, including "good person," "virtue," "good life," "right act," and "wrong act" are defined by the motives, ends, acts, or judgments of exemplars, or persons like that. The theory also generates an account of moral learning through emulation of exemplars, and Zagzebski defends a principle of the division of moral linguistic labor, which gives certain groups of people in a linguistic community special functions in identifying the extension or moral terms, spreading the stereotype associated with the term through the community, or providing the reasoning supporting judgments using those terms. The theory is therefore semantically externalist in that the meaning of moral terms is determined by features of the world outside the mind of the user, including features of exemplars and features of the social linguistic network linking users of the terms to exemplars. The book ends with suggestions about versions of the theory that are forms of moral realism, including a version that supports the existence of necessary a posteriori truths in ethics.
