A modern novel in an alternate world Turn the clock back to 1972 and another time track. Does Evangeline have the necessary survival skills? Sanctuary Bulletin 511 pictured a safe wonderful 1972 world. Evangeline rode the bus to the walled city, not knowing what to expect and ready to fight any obstacles in her path. She found allies who helped in her determined search. The underground world almost stopped her. Love did not enter into her plan and she pushed it away. A forgotten manuscript, covered with dust, came to light after 42 years. Evangeline and her story appears now to show a world that might yet be the answer to those who need help. REVIEWS: TASWOS. It's like stumbling across a novel written by Robert Heinlein and Zenna Henderson in collaboration. What a good idea for a book club. This is a fun read. Thank you Mariam. This book is a great story. The layers on top add more spice, with fast-moving dialogue and banter between characters, along with some unforeseen twists and turns. . .."Sanctuary" is a great read! Mariam has certainly honed her writing skills to include the fine art of suspense, clear imagery/visualization of the action, and yet subtle guidance into the next scene. I could hardly put her book down. TWITTER: Mariam Cheshire Web site: http: //thealternatesafeworldofsanctuary.com/

"This book explores the ways faith-based organizing among Latina/o communities in Ohio helped to create places of sanctuary, safety, and refuge from 2016-2020. It argues for a conceptualization of sanctuary that is capacious and captures the experiences of immigrants facing family separation and deportation as well as Puerto Rican migrants displaced from natural disasters, like Hurricane Marâia"--

Advances In Reintroduction Biology Of Australian And New Zealand Fauna written by Doug Armstrong and has been published by CSIRO PUBLISHING this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-05-15 with Medical categories.

The publication of Reintroduction Biology of Australian and New Zealand Fauna nearly 20 years ago introduced the new science of ‘reintroduction biology’. Since then, there have been vast changes in our understanding of the process of reintroductions and other conservation-driven translocations, and corresponding changes in regulatory frameworks governing translocations. Advances in Reintroduction Biology of Australian and New Zealand Fauna is a timely review of our understanding of translocation from an Australasian perspective, ensuring translocation becomes an increasingly effective conservation management strategy in the future. Written by experts, including reintroduction practitioners, researchers and policy makers, the book includes extensive practical advice and example case studies, identifies emerging themes and suggests future directions. Topics include: key questions in reintroduction biology; population establishment; prey naivety; disease management; dispersal; the roles of trials and experiments; modelling projections; assisted colonisation; population interchange; genetic diversity; disease management; metapopulation dynamics; reintroduced species as ecological engineers; the contributions of sanctuary networks and zoos; and extensive insights from reintroduction programs. This book is aimed at conservation practitioners and researchers, as well as conservation management agencies and NGOs. Although it is based on Australasian examples, it will be of interest globally due to synergies with reintroduction programs throughout the world.

Alternative Salvations written by Hannah Bacon and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-17 with Religion categories.

By considering transformative ideas and experiences which are explicitly articulated or implicitly structured in languages of religion and spirituality, Alternative Salvations probes concepts including 'religious', 'secular', 'spiritual', 'post-Christian', and 'post-secular', providing a series of studies which question the functionality of these broad categories. Part one draws on contemporary salvation narratives showing how current cultural forms, social practices and secular discourses are influenced by, or are interpreted through, the lens of religious and theological accounts of salvation. Examples include twelve step recovery programs, drug culture, and public policy surrounding HIV-AIDs in Kenya. Although outside traditional religious contexts, the contributors show ways in which they are not free from religious symbolism. Part two explores alternative accounts of salvation rooted in religious traditions. Established orthodoxies are confronted by contemporary critical questions, for example about gender, the status of animals, and the political dimensions of salvation. By contributing new perspectives and unique case studies, Alternative Salvations provides a deliberate challenge to easy binaries which often underpin contemporary and traditional discourses of salvation.

This important book offers timely discussions of movements in modern medicine that have had great impact upon the family--the hospice movement and the integration of the family into birthing, care of the dying, the chronically ill, and the mentally ill. This book emphasizes that alternative health practices, often viewed as archaic by Western-trained health care personnel, do no have to be in conflict with modern medical practices, but can instead enrich and expand them. The authors discuss fascinating health practices which are changing the course of medicine.

How is solidarity understood by the people who practice it actively and daily? What is the role of solidarity in reconciling the relationship of individuals with the collective demands of communities that fight for the rights of others? Based on a variety of anthropological, sociological, and philosophical writings as well as ethnographic research, Maria Giannoula takes an elaborated look at the emotional and spiritual aspects of political participation within an activist group in Greece in the 2010s. This study is a valuable resource for those researching social movements and alternative communities, focusing on the ways in which individuals organise their own forms of activism.

For over forty years Stanley Hauerwas has been writing theology that matters. In this new collection of essays, lectures, and sermons, Hauerwas continues his life's work of exploring the theological web, discovering and recovering the connections necessary for the church to bear faithful witness to Christ in our complex and changing times. Hauerwas enters into conversation with a diverse array of interlocutors as he brings new insights to bear on matters theological, delves into university matters, demonstrates how lives matter, and continues in his passionate commitment to the matter of preaching. Essays by Robert Dean illumine the connections that have made Hauerwas's theological web-slinging so significant and demonstrate why Hauerwas's sermons have a crucial role to play in the recovery of a gospel-shaped homiletical imagination.
