Those ancestors were fellow-townsmen with General Grant's, two hundred years ago, in the wilderness, surrounded by the savage foe, and they lie, now, with his in the same old graveyard. It is natural, therefore, that their descendants should feel a personal interest in him whom the fortunes of war and his own skill in arms have justly made so distinguished.
