As we consider the unfolding conditions of our lives through a mythological filter, archetypal qualities of behavior recognizably manifest. This empowers us to infuse value and meaning into our lives that are relevant to our personal experience. Nietzsche understood this process to be essential in the development of his Overman. Carl Jung called this process of bringing unconscious qualities of behavior into consciousness, individuation. Building on the structure of elementary ideasthe universal symbolism that transcends cultural and spiritual landscapesLiving Mythos presents a compelling alternative to the dependency doctrines of modern tradition, and it inspires us to imagine a tomorrow in which we have reclaimed the spiritual nature of our thoughts. Through an exploration of Norse mythology and the influence of Indo-European shamanism, we may begin to understand the mythological worldview as a form of ancient psychology, designed to awaken us to our inherent potential to create and become our own unique living mythos.

Regal is a young Incubus who has recently earned the title of Prince of Lust from Jackal, the King of Hell. Although he is different from all of the other Incubi, he has earned the title for his many successes of capturing lustful souls. That, and he has the perk of being Jackal's son. Keir is one of Gloria's archangels in training, who specializes in the Virtue of Kindness under the guidance of Michaelangelo. Despite being very powerful for his young age, he still has a lot to learn about earth and its inhabitants before he can move up in the ranks of the Angelic Hierarchy. These two powerful forces collide when a battle over a human's life goes awry. Keir finds himself head over heels in love with the demon, and Regal is given the rare opportunity to seize the angel as a personal servant. Regal jumps at the chance to become the first demon in history to covet an angel, but Keir is much smarter than he anticipates, and the two end up tethering their souls together in an unbreakable bond. Keir is more than happy to have the bond between them, but Regal wants out of the deal. The only way to do that is to make the angel fall from grace and become a demon. But can Regal succeed in his plans before Keir makes him ascend into heaven and become one of Gloria’s children?

This paper presents a two-act play in the fantasy genre about the ability to choose, titled "Mythos." The goal of the play is to persuade audience members to consider that regardless of their past, they still have the ability to choose their future. Although this play is written from a Christian perspective, it does not deal directly with Christianity. "Mythos" centers on Margaret, a young woman who is afraid of making the choices necessary to progress her life. Instead, Margaret is waiting on her "call to adventure," which, according to Joseph Campbell, was the beginning of most heroes' adventures in Greek mythology. Research comes from a variety of texts on the fantasy genre, myths, and storytelling, as well as Jeffrey Hatcher's guide The Art & Craft of Playwriting and the English Standard Version of the Bible.

Zen In The Art Of Rhetoric written by Mark McPhail and has been published by State University of New York Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-11-16 with Philosophy categories.

Zen in the Art of Rhetoric interrogates the role of dualistic thought in human communication and culture, and offers new insights into the similarities and differences that mark Eastern and Western conceptualizations of language. Beginning with a reconsideration of the relationship between Zen Buddhism and rhetoric, the book progresses through a series of essays that examines the epistemological assumptions shared by pre-classical and postmodern rhetorics and Buddhist metaphysics, suggesting that the conception of rhetoric articulated by the Greek Sophists parallels the questioning of duality posed by Zenists as well as the critique of negation advanced by some postmodern theorists. Drawing on poetry, personal narratives, critical analysis, and epistemological explorations, this book expands traditional conceptions of rhetoric beyond an "art of persuasion" to a power to manage diverse conceptions of reality, freeing the study and practice of discourse from the essentializing constraints of foundationist philosophy. As an "inquiry into coherence," the book explores social, political, and pedagogical issues ranging from racism, to cultural and ethnic diversity, to the role of argument and persuasion in the creation and perpetuation of difference. The result of this exploration is an understanding of rhetoric as a Tao, a Way of being, thinking, and speaking grounded in what the author calls "dialogic coherence," an actively non-argumentative approach to language, life, and method that is based upon the philosophies and practices of the Eastern martial arts.
