Journeying through the senses, his expert advice offers the practical tools to experience the wilderness on your own doorstop as well as in the wider, wilder world. From learning to observe the creatures and beasts within hands’ reach and seeing and hearing the birds and trees of our forests, to an introduction to rewilding as a concept and the importance nature has to the wider world. Nick's vivid text mixes memoir with practical advice to entertain, inform and inspire us to get back to nature. ReWild is a beautiful and important exploration of the art of returning to nature.

Alongside breathtaking artwork by artist Marc Majewski, Nadja Belhadj delivers her unique perspective on the rewilding of wolves in Yellowstone Park In 1930, when wolves disappeared from Yellowstone Park, the ecosystem started to collapse. With no wolves, the elk population exploded, directly contributing to overgrazing of young trees and cottonwood plants. This, in turn, led to a decline in songbirds and beavers, the latter of whom rely on willows in winter. As beavers declined in numbers, the lack of damming and shade meant water temperatures rose, and certain cold-water fish could no longer survive in Yellowstone. The missing link in the ecosystem was clear. So 65 years later, after the last known wolfpack had been exterminated from the area, wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone in 1995. This hardcover accordion book tells two sides to their story.

This book is for anyone concerned about the current state of our planet; for plant lovers; for rewilders; and for anyone who has glimpsed more layers to reality than we are currently being sold.Wildness in the wider world and equally within ourselves, has been tamed by modern culture and society. We are experiencing the consequences of domesticating our wildness everywhere we look. In the wider world we find ourselves both in the midst of a mass extinction event and at a point where true wilderness is vanishing. Internally, our sense of disconnection from the rest of the natural world runs deep and is manifesting amongst the human population as mental and physical health crises, and all manner of addictions and avoidance techniques.Yet wildness is the essence of Earth, it still exists everywhere, including within each one of us. To revivify that wildness we need a paradigm shift. We need to change the way we experience the world around us and our relationships to it.Rewilding & The Art Of Plant Whispering is a practical and deeply thought provoking guide to creating that necessary shift. Explore and rekindle your sacred relationship with all beings. Restore your ability to use your senses with acuity, and listen to the wisdom of your body. This book provides a comprehensive and in-depth guide to interspecies communication. Rachel Corby draws on her wealth of experience as she invites you to join her on a soulful journey of self and spirit. A deep dive into living relationships, into remembering our place as equals among other beings. A journey of plant enchantment, where recognition of those other beings as animate, en-spirited and intelligent, opens the door to a whole new way of being. The author will lead you through a variety of methods to help you engage and enhance your natural ability for plant whispering. Learn how to initiate communication and how to listen for the response. Build your ability to perceive directly with your heart. From the most simple form of communication between self and plant you will be encouraged to embark on a path of attentive noticing, so that you can unfold such interactions with confidence, and develop personal relationships with plants. In demystifying access to plant consciousness, this book will equip you to draw communication with plants into your daily life. The art of plant whispering is not just about ceremony or occasional work, but for all day everyday. Communicating with plants can help change everything, influencing how we behave and enriching our lives with intimacy and meaning. In developing the art of plant whispering for yourself you will begin to unlock the sacred medicine of the plant realms, and receive personal messages imbued with deep meaning. Forge relationships with plants so that they become your allies, mentors, and companions. As the plants direct us on our individual medicine journeys, the journey to wholeness, they can help us find our purpose and deepen our sense of belonging in the wild heart of Gaia.Reach into the realms of single plant immersion, dream work, shamanic drum journey, sacred elixirs, entheogens, fasting, and much more, to find avenues that will take your communications and understanding of self and Gaia ever deeper. Plant-whisperer, writer, and photographer Lily Diamond believes that herbs and flowers have the power to nourish inside and out. “Lily’s deep connection to nature is beautifully woven throughout this personal collection of recipes,” says award-winning vegetarian chef Amy Chaplin. Each chapter celebrates an aromatic herb or flower, including basil, cilantro, fennel, mint, oregano, rosemary, sage, thyme, lavender, jasmine, rose, and orange blossom. Mollie Katzen, author of the beloved Moosewood Cookbook, calls the book “a gift, articulated through a poetic voice, original and bold.” The recipes tell a coming-of-age story through Lily’s kinship with plants, from a sun-drenched Maui childhood to healing from heartbreak and her mother’s death. With bright flavors, gorgeous scents, evocative stories, and more than one hundred photographs, Kale & Caramel creates a lush garden of experience open to harvest year round.

Reconnect with your wild essence as you awaken your innate bond with the natural world “Rewilding is a return to our essential nature. It is an attempt to reclaim something of what we were before we used words like ‘civilized’ to define ourselves.” —Micah Mortali In his long-awaited book Rewilding, Kripalu director Micah Mortali brings together yoga, mindfulness, wilderness training, and ancestral skills to create a unique guide for reigniting your primal energy—your undomesticated true self—and deepening your connection with the living earth. For hundreds of thousands of years, humans lived intimately with the earth. We were in the wild and of the wild. Today, we live mostly urban lives—and our vital wildness has gone dormant. As a result, we’re more isolated, unhealthy, anxious, and depressed than ever, and our planet has suffered alongside us. With Rewilding, Mortali invites us to shed the effects of over-civilization and explore an inner wisdom that is primal, ancient, and profound. Whether you live in the middle of a city or alongside the woods, the insights and practices on these pages will bring you home to your wild, wise, and alive self. Highlights include: Practice-rich content—mindfulness exercises, guided meditations, yoga and pranayama, inward sensing, forest bathing, and much moreThe “life-force deficit”—explore how our separation from nature affects us physiologically and spirituallyAncestral skills—such as tracking, foraging, building fires, and finding shelterDevelop a sense of calm, clarity, connection, and confidence in both your daily life and the great outdoorsWhat you can learn from nature’s teachers—lessons from mountains, rivers, trees, and our animal kinRewild in the wild—guidelines around safety, preparedness, appropriate gear, and packing listsA mindful rewilding flow—put everything together in an immersive, step-by-step rewilding experienceAwaken your authentic spiritual connection with the natural world as you come home to your true selfUnderstand the relationship between our health and the health of our planet—and how we can begin to heal both Part celebration of the natural world, part spiritual memoir, and part how-to guide, Rewilding is a must-read for anyone who wants to embrace their wild nature and essential place in the living earth.
