What inspires a person to create? How does an artist see the world? What happens during a "eureka moment?" How does an artist find self-discipline? The Artist's Mentor is for those of us who want to create art but do not know how to begin. Drawing on interviews and autobiographical writings of more than 100 famous painters, photographers, sculptors, and film and video artists, Jackman gets to the heart of what makes art. Here, Michelangelo Brungardt, Frida Kahlo, Jean Renoir, Andy Warhol, Ansel Adams, Annie Leibowitz, Pablo Picasso, and many other visual artists describe the creative process. Quotes and passages from the artists are accompanied by commentary from Jackman.

This book undertakes a deep examination of mentor and disciple relationships in the development of artists. It draws upon a variety of relationships and models, including an in-person mentor, a mentor or apprentice scenario, and non-physical mentors such as historical figures, in order to investigate their history and philosophy. This volume specifically addresses the role of mentoring in the lives of contemporary aspiring artists, asking if and how mentoring can be considered a form of human nurturance. Deep historical inspections and philosophical inquiries are combined with analyses of interviews with contemporary artists ranging from 35 to 101 years old. These holistic insights present the subject of mentoring in the arts from the multiple angles of art history and relevant ideas about the benefits of nurturance and acceptance in human development. Using artists’ biographies and discussions of their work, this book sheds light on the role that mentoring has played in their development and can play in contemporary education. It will appeal to artists, art history teachers, educators, art students, and art scholars.

Mistress Model Muse And Mentor written by Robert Julian Hafner and has been published by Lulu.com this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with Artist's block categories.

This book is about the contribution of women to the lives of famous artists. Although women have given so much to these artists, this selfless contribution has been largely overlooked by art historians. In trying to redress such a huge imbalance, I have focused mainly on male painters. As a retired psychiatrist, I could not write about these artists, and the women who were their intimate partners, without considering their psychopathology. In writing about this I have struggled to avoid jargon and to ensure readability. The main focus is on the relationship between psychopathology and creativity, with some comments about the effects of psychiatric treatment on the creative process. The overall bias of the book is feminist, but my voice here is not strident. I have tried to comment sensibly on what modern women may learn from the truly heroic women who are the main focus of this work.

Character Mentor written by Tom Bancroft and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-11-12 with Computers categories.

You've researched your character extensively, tailored her to your audience, sketched hundreds of versions, and now you lean back content as you gaze at your final character model sheet. But now what? Whether you want to use her in an animated film, television show, video game, web comic, or children's book, you're going to have to make her perform. How a character looks and is costumed starts to tell her story, but her body language reveals even more. Character Mentor shows you how to pose your character, create emotion through facial expressions, and stage your character to create drama. Author Tom Bancroft addresses each topic with clear, concise prose, and then shows you what he really means through commenting on and redrawing artwork from a variety of student "apprentices." His assignments allow you to join in and bring your drawing to the next level with concrete techniques, as well as more theoretical analysis. Character Mentor is an apprenticeship in a book. Professional artists from a variety of media offer their experience through additional commentary. These include Marcus Hamilton (Dennis the Menace), Terry Dodson (X-Men), Bobby Rubio (Pixar), Sean "Cheeks" Galloway (Spiderman animated), and more. With a foreword by comicbook artist Adam Hughes, who has produced work for DC, Marvel Comics, Lucasfilm, Warner Bros. Pictures, and other companies.

Mentors written by Francis M. Naumann and has been published by Doppelhouse Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-05-14 with Art categories.

A surprising and revealing memoir populated with art historians, art influencers, and the former lover of Marcel Duchamp, Beatrice Wood. Francis M. Naumann, a distinguished expert on Dada and Marcel Duchamp reflects upon his mentors, including Leo Steinberg, John Rewald, and perhaps his greatest influence: the artist and former lover of Marcel Duchamp, Beatrice Wood. Wood set Naumann upon a course of original research that would define him, but also provided a moral platform for what an art historian could be.
