Scientific Study from the year 2012 in the subject Law - European and International Law, Intellectual Properties, , language: English, abstract: The Republic of Kosova as the youngest country in the world, established after many years of its existence, with its ancient Illyrian origin, includes minorities as well. Although its current territory is small, the diversity of its population is great. It consists of Turks, Gorani, Ashkali, Serbs, Egyptians, Croats, etc.., with the Serb minority being the largest one. This population has settled in Kosova at different period of times, mainly and mostly after the withdrawal of the Ottoman Empire, following the declaration of the independence of Albania in 1912, then in the following years 1913, 1914 and onwards, while on the basis of the international treaties, when the Albanian lands, in this case Kosova, were annexed. These long periods of settling of the Albanian lands with Serbs had changed the demographic picture of Kosova. Nowadays, with the declaration of independence of Kosova in 2008, the Serb minority have been granted all of the maximum rights that a minority in the world might have. Their rights are as large as to some extent the majority population, the Albanians, let alone other minorities which are almost same in the number as Serbs are, feel discriminated. Kosova institutions have opened their doors and reserved seats in every institutional aspect. However, this is not satisfying the Serb minority, where the desire of being the first is making them blind, their involvement within the institutions is very much a formal one, as to get double benefits, whereas their contribution to the institutions of the Republic of Kosova is very minimal. The reason for choosing this subject for study is the one that, despite the fact that Serb minority has been given all the opportunities for a better life in Kosova, they still lack the willingness to contribute as any other minority in the world. Every country in the world in itself has got minorities, Kosova has minorities as well and the fact that Serbs may also be a minority in a country is not properly understood by them. In fact, the entire world understands this situation, but their unfair attitude towards the Republic of Kosova, behaving like its masters, thinking that one should always serve them, by thanking them day and night, is immensely damaging Kosova. Everyone knows and we know it as well that the Serb minority is exaggeratedly spoiled and that the Serbian politics is very active in Europe, while the Serb minority in Kosova is only a tool used by them.

Scientific Study from the year 2012 in the subject Politics - Region: Southeastern Europe, , language: English, abstract: Dealing with illegal Serb minority structures in Kosova, as well as Serbia’s and International community’s stance towards them is more than necessary, as these illegal structures are the greatest danger not only for Kosova's statehood, but also for stability in the region. Serbia's stance towards them is a destructive one, since not only that she has established them, she has also funded them at all times. On the other side, the international community not only that they have allowed their establishment and functioning, by not taking any measures against those structures, however, she instead after the declaration of independence of Kosova is trying to impose the Kosovan institutions that they are legalized. Given that we are dealing with a topic about which, thousands of pages can be written, this paper seeks to address this problem in brief, so that the reader can have a quick access into this phenomenon, which is producing only instability and insecurity in Kosova and in the Balkans. The unequal treatment of the Albanian majority population vis-à-vis the Serb minority in Kosova by the international community represents a disturbing fact and produces an additional uncertainty to the Albanian majority population in Kosova.

Civic And Uncivic Values In Kosovo written by Sabrina P. Ramet and has been published by Central European University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-02-01 with Political Science categories.

This volume is driven by the conviction that the key to the establishment of stable liberal democracy anywhere in the world and, in this case, in Kosovo lies in the completion of three interrelated tasks: first, the creation of effective political institutions, based on the principle of the separation of powers (including the independence of the judiciary); second, the promotion of the rule of law; and, third, the promotion of civic values, including tolerance or ethnic/religious/sexual minorities, trust, and respect for the harm principle. In fact, there are problems across all three measures, including with judicial independence, with the rule of law, and with civic values. On the last of these, research findings show that the citizens of Kosovo rank extremely low on trust of other citizens, low on engagement in social organizations, and tolerance of gays, lesbians, and atheists, but high on trust in the political institutions of their country and in pride of their newly independent state.

Ethnic Bargaining written by Erin K. Jenne and has been published by Cornell University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007 with History categories.

In Ethnic Bargaining, Erin K. Jenne introduces a theory of minority politics that blends comparative analysis and field research in the postcommunist countries of East Central Europe with insights from rational choice. Jenne finds that claims by ethnic minorities have become more frequent since 1945 even though nation-states have been on the whole more responsive to groups than in earlier periods. Minorities that perceive an increase in their bargaining power will tend to radicalize their demands, she argues, from affirmative action to regional autonomy to secession, in an effort to attract ever greater concessions from the central government. The language of self-determination and minority rights originally adopted by the Great Powers to redraw boundaries after World War I was later used to facilitate the process of decolonization. Jenne believes that in the 1960s various ethnic minorities began to use the same discourse to pressure national governments into transfer payments and power-sharing arrangements. Violence against minorities was actually in some cases fueled by this politicization of ethnic difference. Jenne uses a rationalist theory of bargaining to examine the dynamics of ethnic cleavage in the cases of the Sudeten Germans in interwar Czechoslovakia; Slovaks and Moravians in postcommunist Czechoslovakia; the Hungarians in Romania, Slovakia, and Vojvodina; and the Albanians in Kosovo. Throughout Ethnic Bargaining, she challenges the conventional wisdom that partisan intervention is an effective mechanism for protecting minorities and preventing or resolving internal conflict.

The Kosovo Report written by and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Political Science categories.

The war in Kosovo was a turning point: NATO deployed its armed forces in war for the first time, and placed the controversial doctrine of "humanitarian intervention" squarely in the world's eye. It was an armed intervention for the purpose of implementing Security Council resolutions - but without Security Council authorization. This report tries to answer a number of burning questions, such as why the international community was unable to act earlier and prevent the escalation of the conflict, as well as focusing on the capacity of the United Nations to act as global peacekeeper. The Commission recommends a new status for Kosovo, "conditional independence," with the goal of lasting peace and security for Kosovo - and for the Balkan region in general. But many of the conclusions may be beneficially applied to conflicts the world-over.
