This dissertation is unique because there has not been one monograph, book, commentary or article (among ancient and modern commentators) concerning Revelation 1:18. This passage has been used by some of the Fathers and commentators to this present day as a foundational passage teaching the doctrine of Christ's descent. However, this dissertation is the first to study Revelation 1:18 in a comprehensive way: exegetically, theologically, and historically.
