From highly acclaimed urban fantasy author, Joshua Bader, comes the MODERN KNIGHTS Box Set. The collection contains books 1 - 3 including Frostbite, Two Wizard Roulette, and Faceless. Start your adventure today! ********** FROSTBITE (Book 1) Getting hired to be a personal wizard for a billionaire may just become a death sentence. Colin Fisher is a young man with a lot of problems on his plate: a dying father, a dead car doubling as a home, and a mysteriously disappeared fiancée. You'd think with a magical inclination, he'd be able to turn it all around, but not so much. Yet, his bad luck appears to be on the way out when the CEO of a multinational corporation offers him a job. It's a sweet gig as a personal wizard with a fat paycheck. The catch? The paranoid CEO isn't a mere hypochondriac, he's been hexed with an authentic ancient curse. Now Colin is the only thing standing between his new boss and a frozen bundle of fangs, claws, and rage. If he can't stop the cannibal ice demon in time to save his new boss, it'll be back to living out of his dead car. That is, if he even survives the battle. ********** TWO WIZARD ROULETTE (Book 2) While working as a personal wizard for a billionaire, the stakes have never been higher. Being a personal wizard to a multinational CEO isn't all fun and games. When Colin's not busy with assassins and his own inner demons, there's amnesia potions and odd jobs like hunting down a serial criminal or two. If the billionaire boss was bad, the relationship between Colin and his demon-blooded girlfriend Veruca has been downright turbulent since last winter's freak blizzard. It doesn't make the situation any easier that his favorite FBI contact looks exactly like his missing, presumed dead, fiancé. All of that would be enough to keep Colin busy. But when a dangerous gambler with magical powers of his own, and his demoness consort, start fleecing Vegas casinos for millions, Colin finds himself trapped in a high stakes game of two wizard roulette. ********** FACELESS (Book 3) The Race is on to Save Colin and Bring Him Back from the Beyond. Even if being a personal wizard to a powerful CEO has its perks, Colin Fisher's body and soul have paid for these benefits with every case. From stopping a crime spree by a demon pact wizard to killing a relentless ice demon, he's been on the job. Yet he still doesn't know what happened to his fiancée on the night he gained his magic. To solve that mystery, he will have to pay the highest price yet. On the floor of his arcane sanctum, in a self-induced coma, he's trying to peel back the layers of time and solve the enigma. But if he does, he may never wake up. Meanwhile, the two women who love him have their hands full trying to keep him alive while he's on his spirit journey. Veruca Wakefield, demon blooded assassin, and Andrea Deveraux, FBI trained agent, will have to work together if they are to defeat both threats and save Colin. ********** "This fantastical thrill ride is filled with perfectly timed pop-culture references, stunning plot twists, and the snarky (and sometimes offensive) stylings of Colin's inner voice. Well-researched and creatively presented humor and action perfectly blend with moral quandaries in this outstanding debut."" - Publisher's Weekly Starred Review ★★★★★ "Bloody action underscores a plot in FACELESS in which...everything works well together to pave the way for future installments." - Publisher's Weekly ★★★★★

A month into his quest, Hen has had countless consultations with Emma, watched approximately fifty-three reruns of Behind the Music, and made one new Facebook friend. Unfortunately, he's no closer to any revelations about his sister. Criminology Goes To The Movies written by Nicole Hahn Rafter and has been published by NYU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Law categories.

From a look at classics like Psycho and Double Indemnity to recent films like Traffic and Thelma & Louise, Nicole Rafter and Michelle Brown show that criminological theory is produced not only in the academy, through scholarly research, but also in popular culture, through film. Criminology Goes to the Movies connects with ways in which students are already thinking criminologically through engagements with popular culture, encouraging them to use the everyday world as a vehicle for theorizing and understanding both crime and perceptions of criminality. The first work to bring a systematic and sophisticated criminological perspective to bear on crime films, Rafter and Brown's book provides a fresh way of looking at cinema, using the concepts and analytical tools of criminology to uncover previously unnoticed meanings in film, ultimately making the study of criminological theory more engaging and effective for students while simultaneously demonstrating how theories of crime circulate in our mass-mediated worlds. The result is an illuminating new way of seeing movies and a delightful way of learning about criminology.

Tripping Arcadia written by Kit Mayquist and has been published by Penguin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-02-22 with Fiction categories.

From debut author Kit Mayquist, a propulsive and atmospheric modern gothic with all the splendor of The Great Gatsby . . . and all the secrets, lies, and darkness that opulence can hide Med school dropout Lena is desperate for a job, any job, to help her parents, who are approaching bankruptcy after her father was injured and laid off nearly simultaneously. So when she is offered a position, against all odds, working for one of Boston’s most elite families, the illustrious and secretive Verdeaus, she knows she must accept—no matter how bizarre the interview or how vague the job description. By day, she is assistant to the family doctor and his charge, Jonathan, the sickly, poetic, drunken heir to the family empire, who is as difficult as his illness is mysterious. By night, Lena discovers the more sinister side of the family, as she works overtime at their lavish parties, helping to hide their self-destructive tendencies . . . and trying not to fall for Jonathan’s alluring sister, Audrey. But when she stumbles upon the knowledge that the Verdeau patriarch is the one responsible for the ruin of her own family, Lena vows to get revenge—a poison-filled quest that leads her further into this hedonistic world than she ever bargained for, forcing her to decide how much, and whom, she's willing to sacrifice for payback. The perfect next read for fans of Mexican Gothic, Tripping Arcadia is a page-turning and shocking tale with an unforgettable protagonist that explores family legacy and inheritance, the sacrifices we must make to get by in today’s world, and the intoxicating, dangerous power of wealth.

The Irish Voice In America written by Charles Fanning and has been published by University Press of Kentucky this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-10-21 with Literary Criticism categories.

In this study, Charles Fanning has written the first general account of the origins and development of a literary tradition among American writers of Irish birth or background who have explored the Irish immigrant or ethnic experience in works of fiction. The result is a portrait of the evolving fictional self-consciousness of an immigrant group over a span of 250 years. Fanning traces the roots of Irish-American writing back to the eighteenth century and carries it forward through the traumatic years of the Famine to the present time with an intensely productive period in the twentieth century beginning with James T. Farrell. Later writers treated in depth include Edwin O'Connor, Elizabeth Cullinan, Maureen Howard, and William Kennedy. Along the way he places in the historical record many all but forgotten writers, including the prolific Mary Ann Sadlier. The Irish Voice in America is not only a highly readable contribution to American literary history but also a valuable reference to many writers and their works. For this second edition, Fanning has added a chapter that covers the fiction of the past decade. He argues that contemporary writers continue to draw on Ireland as a source and are important chroniclers of the modern American experience.
