This book is a complete overview of the three most dangerous and infamous spells in Harry Potter lore, commonly called the Unforgivable Curses. The spells are categorized by severity, from least severe to most severe, i.e., starting with the Imperius Curse, followed by the Cruciatus Curse, and ending with the Killing Curse. The nature of the Unforgivable Curses is described, as in why they are unforgivable in the first place. Each spell is then described: a brief history of each spell from suspected origins to present day uses, how each spell works, notable people who performed these spells and on whom, and possible ways of defending oneself against these spells. The aim of this book is to dispel or reinforce rumors regarding the Unforgivable Curses, as well as to provide a well-rounded understanding of the most notable curses typically not taught nor talked about in great length in the wizarding community. A further aim is to address how these notorious spells stand out as truly unique among the numerous spells that currently exist in Harry Potter lore and why they should be studied to further detail.

Deleuze’s and Guattari’s philosophy in the field of artistic research Gilles Deleuze’s intriguing concept of the dark precursor refers to intensive processes of energetic flows passing between fields of different potentials. Fleetingly used in Difference and Repetition, it remained underexplored in Deleuze’s subsequent work. In this collection of essays numerous contributors offer perspectives on Deleuze’s concept of the dark precursor as it affects artistic research, providing a wide-ranging panorama on the intersection between music, art, philosophy, and scholarship. The forty-eight chapters in this publication present a kaleidoscopic view of different fields of knowledge and artistic practices, exposing for the first time the diversity and richness of a world situated between artistic research and the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. Within different understandings of artistic research, the authors—composers, architects, performers, philosophers, sculptors, film-makers, painters, writers, and activists—map practices and invent concepts, contributing to a creative expansion of horizons, materials, and methodologies. Hieronymus Bosch written by Virginia Pitts Rembert and has been published by Parkstone International this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-01-17 with Art categories.

Hieronymus Bosch was painting terrifying, yet strangely likeable, monsters, long before computer games were invented, often with a touch of humour. His works are assertive statements about the mental dangers that befall those who abandon the teachings of Christ. With a life that spanned from 1450 to 1516, Bosch was born at the height of the Renaissance and witnessed its wars of religion. Medieval traditions and values were crumbling, thrusting man into a new universe where faith had lost some of its power and much of its magic. Bosch set out to warn doubters of the perils awaiting all and any who lost their faith in God. Believing that everyone had to make their own moral choices, he focused on themes of hell, heaven and lust. He brilliantly exploited the symbolism of a wide range of fruits and plants to lend sexual overtones to his themes.

This fascinating 1906 treatise explores the seminal work of Francis Bacon with particular reference to cryptic rhymes and their possible connections to the occult. Francis Bacon (1561 – 1626) was an English statesman and philosopher who served as Lord Chancellor and Attorney General of England. His works are hailed as having developed the scientific method and were influential throughout the scientific revolution. Contents include: “Francis Bacon Confesses, in the Presence of Death, to Having Written Rhymed Books”, “What was Francis Bacon's Estimation of Poesy?”, “Francis Bacon's Predilection for the Occult Arts”, “What Part do the Words 'Name' and 'Darts' lay in Bacon's Writings?”, “The Mysterious Manner of the Actor Shakespeare”, “What Part foes Rhyme play in Shakespeare's Dramas?”, etc. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with the original text and artwork.
