The principal character, David Werner, becomes a pivotal resistance leader named Bear. Forced to relive the events of the war before a Senate hearing, we learn of how what were once unthinkable events led up to the conflict, how the resistance was born, how it evolved, and the slow and deliberate rise of its elusive leader known as Two Dragons. In this story, the main character, along with many others in the world, watches as the country and world they once knew devolve on virtually every level. Like so many, they attempt to navigate the rapidly changing political environment, holding on to the illusion that everything will eventually work itself out. Despite their best efforts, the world erupts into a global conflict that reaches America's shores. In the course of this war, the characters find that the enemy within their nation may be even more dangerous than their external foes. Through the uncontainable events of his new life, Bear must reconcile how the tenets of a great society became so broken. He and all those who struggle with him must learn to care for each other as they discover the truth that lies within each of them. With the illusions of their former lives stripped away, people are forced to make a choice, thereby considering how each of them will express their choices through their actions. From these individual choices, we see the rise of the great American militia and a return to our founder's ideals. Once again, a people must learn to boldly walk the journey of faith and demonstrative citizenship. This is not the tale of lost hope or global collapse. Instead, it is a story of the return to faith, hope, and true liberty. Nonetheless, the path they must travel is fraught with danger and conflict. Early on in the story, the reader will assume what this story is about, only to find themselves pulled in a new direction. Here our characters begin to find a new and greater purpose, and the reader begins to evolve with our intrepid group of unlikely worriers. Throughout their struggle, you will walk with them, cry with them, laugh with them, and ultimately, you may ask, "Who am I?"

In 1968, the predecessor of this volume was published as Number 15 of the Law in Eastern Europe series, under the title "Soviet Citizenship Law". The decision to put out a new version of that study was prompted by the enactment in 1978 of the CUTTent Law on the Citizenship of the USSR and the various changes in Soviet prac tice in this domain which occurred in the intervening decade. I have drawn on the earlier work for background material and in order to make comparisons between the previous record here and the substance ofthe latest statute. However, the pres ent monograph is not a second edition in the sense of being an expanded and updated revision of the original, but stands as an independent piece of research and analysis. Thus, three of the chapters (out of a total of six) featured in the 1968 vol urne - citizenship and state succession, state succession and option of nationality, and refugees and displaced persons - have now been omitted for the simple reason that the situation in these areas has remained virtually static during the past ten years so that the initial treatment requires no significant alteration. On the other hand, fresh problems have meantime arisen - such as, for instance, the connection between citizenship and emigration, and the relationship between citizenship status and the international protection of human rights - which called for attention and are dealt with in this book.

With awareness of both the opportunities and challenges presented by globalization, there is a growing trend among colleges and universities across the country to commit goals and resources to the concept of internationalizing their campuses. This can occur in a number of different ways but a common thread involves exploring the concept of global citizenship and finding ways to embed this concept in undergraduate curricula. For faculty, this may call for moving out of a presumed comfort zone in the traditional classroom and determining new approaches to teaching a generation of students who will live and work in a more global context. A method for accomplishing this work that is growing in popularity involves offering short-term, faculty-led field courses to international settings. In fact, today more college students are participating in such short-term study abroad opportunities than the more traditional semester and/or yearlong programs. Faculty and administrators who want to capitalize on short-term, study abroad programs as a means for internationalizing their campuses need practical resources to help them realize this challenging but important goal. They not only need support in developing the course curricula and logistics, but also in constructing authentic means for assessing the multi-faceted learning that occurs. Short-term international programs, when carefully planned and executed, engage the participants (both students and faculty) in unique learning experiences that can involve service, research, and critical analysis of what it truly means to be a global citizen. Such work helps define the somewhat nebulous but worthy goals of internationalizing campuses and fostering global citizenship. The authors of this text are professional educators with deep experience in global education and curriculum development. They offer a valuable resource for the development, execution and assessment of faculty-led international field courses that is at once theoretical, practical and motivational. This book argues that there is an inherent relationship between EU fundamental rights and EU citizenship: they both have the same objective of guaranteeing protection for the individual. This is underpinned by the development of case law in the field by the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU). Here, however, the author proposes that that relationship has weakened in recent years as the CJEU has entered increasingly sensitive territory in regard to the protection of citizenship rights and fundamental rights. Writing in the post UK–EU referendum environment, the author argues that this decline is attributable to increasing Euroscepticism, which has worsened since the Eurozone crisis and even more so in light of Brexit, and arguments made that leaving the EU would reduce immigration. This argument is particularly important to note given the rising fears of immigration that underlie much of the dissatisfaction with the EU project: a feeling prevalent not only in the UK. The chapters look at the rights of migrant EU citizens in Member States other than their own, and the guarantees that exist as a matter of protecting their fundamental human rights, which are present alongside rights enjoyed as part of being an EU citizen.
