St David's Day, 1st March, is a big day in Wales because it commemorates the country's patron saint. For Christians, it also holds great significance in that one of Wales greatest sons entered glory on this Sunday in 1981. Rev. Dr D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, man of prayer, evangelist, preacher, teacher, author, mentor, and international conference speaker, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on this day in 1981. The story of this man's life and ministry is an inspiration and challenge to all who read it, and I would commend this exercise highly. This is not another biography of the great man. Rather, this is a personal tribute and appreciation by a minister of the Gospel who can trace the crystallisation of his call to be a preacher of the Gospel to the influence of one of his early books, 'Preaching and Preachers.' Having literally devoured his 'Studies in the Sermon on the Mount,' I could not wait until I had acquired anything written by this man of God. Over the years, I have read most of his books and listened to many of his sermons. This culminated in the first ever evaluation of his understanding of the Cross for which I was awarded a doctorate. This was published in 2015 by WestBow Press under the title, 'Lamb of God : Saviour of the World.'This tribute to the Doctor was a labour of love for me. It revolves largely around what I learned from his published writings. That makes it a very personal book. As you read it, you will be drawn into the narrative, and you will come see the man for who he was, a spiritual and theological giant. This book will commend itself to Christian readers everywhere. Dr Lloyd-Jones is very well known within the Christian world. His influence for good on evangelicalism in England and beyond is incalculable. This book will give you new insights into the Doctor. Get it, read it, and learn from it.

"He will be the preacher." Whether this was just an offhand remark or the woman leaning over his crib was speaking under inspiration from the Holy Spirit, either way, her prediction came to pass. This is the story of a shy, wisecrack kid from rural Canada becoming a well-known American preacher. It’s a story of seemingly random events deciding one man’s destiny. But most of all, it’s a story of God leading one of His dear children along. Join Erwin Lutzer on this tour of his life—from a Saskatchewan farm to a Dallas seminary to the historic Moody Church in Chicago. Hear his personal reflections and tales of pastoral hardship. Meet the people who have shaped him: his parents, professors, family, and even the great evangelist Billy Graham. And see how his many roles—author, speaker, evangelist, historian, and cultural critic—have carried his prophetic voice beyond Moody’s pulpit, even abroad. Part story and part reflection, full of heart with a dose of wit, He Will Be the Preacher is a personal and engaging witness to the providence of God.

To measure the impact of a minister's preaching, one must first examine the societal context in which the ministry took place. For example, what would lead a minister of the Gospel to roar from the pulpit, as did Joseph Parker of City Temple, London, "God damn the Sultan!" The first section of The Golden Age of Preaching is given to the study of the times in which nine prominent British preachers ministered. Understanding the times helps one to comprehend why crowds flocked to hear these men preach, and why their sermons were printed in newspapers on Monday. Furthermore, to assess the preaching of a man, one needs to take into account the life and manner of the man himself. The Men Who Moved the Masses includes biographical sketches of nine selected preachers: Alexander McLaren, Robert William Dale, Henry Parry Liddon at St. Paul's London, Joseph Parker, Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Alexander Whyte, Frederick Brotherton Meyer, John Henry Jowett, and George Campbell Morgan. These were men, though hampered by various medical problems and personality shortcomings, who led thousands to faith in their day. The final section attempts to answer the question, "Why?" by identifying those homiletical characteristics of their preaching which they had in common, resulting in such uncommon impact upon the masses. Those qualities are not confined to their era alone. They are perpetual, applicable to any age, to any culture. Preachers and seminarians who dare to sit at the feet and learn from these preaching giants of the past will find their own preaching power lifted onto a new plain to the benefit of all who hear them.

Some may object to my dogmatic assertions; but I do not apologise for them. Every preacher should believe strongly in his own method; and if I cannot persuade all of the rightness of mine, I can at least stimulate them to think and to consider other possibilities. I can say quite honestly that I would not cross the road to listen to myself preaching, and the preachers whom I have enjoyed most have been very different indeed in their method and style. But my business is not to describe them but to state what I believe to be right, however imperfectly I have put my own precepts into practice. I can only hope that the result will be of some help, and especially to young preachers called to this greatest of all tasks, and especially in these sad and evil times. With many others I pray that "The Lord of the harvest may thrust forth" many mighty preachers to proclaim 'the unsearchable riches of Christ!'

Some doctors are baffled at the fact that Rev. H. Meredith Hinds is still alive today. They are saying he is a living miracle. Twelve years ago, this preacher was diagnosed with cancer of the throat and was not expected to talk again, far less preach. The chief surgeon told him that during the operation, he could not remove much of the tumor because the cancer cells were so aggressive, that they had already spread to the main artery of the brain, as well as the spinal cord. This man was told that the only help available for such a condition as his was radiation treatment. However, he refused to accept the radiation treatment his doctor had prescribed and decided that he would trust God for his healing instead. You will be greatly challenged by the faith of this amazing man of God. This work is a vital reading for all. It should provide inspiration to those who find themselves in testing situations, and also those in search of faith. Prof. Curwen Best BA (UWI), MPhil (UWI), PhD (Birmingham) Professor of Popular Culture and Literary Studies UWI, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados Quite frankly, your story should be a "bestseller" here in the USA and abroad. It's not only a great book, but it's personable and genuine and it probes at the heart making you want to seek God's face even more. I also enjoyed that you were not puffed up and afraid to talk about your weaknesses. Marisa, New Jersey

A story about a man who lives in the presence of God and brings that presence to others. As I talked, I felt death cover my body. I felt cold, clammy, and my skin began to turn gray. I knew that I was going to visit God. So I asked Him one more time to please tell my parents that I love them, that I forgive them, and to please ask them if they would forgive me.My bed was by the window and I lay down and tried to relax, but I could not calm down. It was difficult to breath. I paced the floor like a caged animal. I needed some fresh air but I was afraid to go outside. I knew the police were out there, so I climbed onto my bed, opened the shutters, and stuck my head out the window. My mustache and hair got singed. Large flames poured out of the hotel windows and rolled up the side of the exterior wall. Around two hundred firemen, police officers, and spectators stood on the pavement and watched. Under my window, the firemen held what looked to be a large round canvas with a red bull's-eye in the middle. The firemen yelled at me to jump onto the canvas. They said that if I didn't jump that I would surly burn to death. I climbed onto the windowsill. Tongues of fire leapt all around me. I yelled to the firemen that on the count of three I would jump. I looked directly into the bull's eye and counted, “One!” “One!” The people cheered. “Two!” I yelled. “Two!” The people cheered. Then I yelled with all my strength as I prepared to jump, “THREE!” Two hundred plus people, regular citizens, firemen, police and paramedics yelled, “THREE” I was ready to jump but at the moment I was about to push off, I heard a distant scream from my right, “Joey, help!” It was a woman's voice and I stopped because only close family called me Joey. The screams became more urgent, “Joey, help! Joey, help!” I looked to my right and saw a young lady with long golden curly blond hair just like my sister Terri, in a silk non-revealing transparent gold nighty leaning out of a window, four rooms to the right. Fire from inside her room danced all around her and leaped into the air. She had no choice, either jump or burn. We caught eyes for what seemed like an eternity. I told her to jump first and commanded the firemen to place the canvas in front of her window. “No, you need to jump first,” the fire chief said. "I am from the South and it would be disrespectful to save my life before saving that ladies life first!" I said. The chief argued with me about who was to jump first. It seemed a little fishy to me that he argued with me in such a desperate situation. Then I realized that the fire chief was the same guy as the SWAT guy that shot up Larry's room earlier. That stunned me but the lady definitely needed help before me. I screamed to the chief that I wasn't going first. He yielded and told the men to bring the canvas over to the lady. She jumped safely onto the canvas and the people cheered and applauded. By now a few hundred people stood on the pavement with the firemen, police, and paramedics. The firemen called out to me, "Jump." "Jump, jump, jump!" the crowd chanted. “I'll jump on the count of three!” I yelled out. They already knew the routine. “One!” I yelled. “One!” the people chanted. “Two!” I yelled “Two!” The crowd chanted. “Three!” I yelled. The people applauded and chanted, “Three!” With a hero's confidence and a star's charisma, I stood in the windowsill and prepared to jump. I let go of the windowsill and pushed off with my legs. As I was in the air Time Stopped Still, the parking lot, fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, and crowd of hundreds moved side to side like a pendulum. An invisible hand hit me square in the chest and thrust me back through the window and onto my bed! In a panic, I ran out of the room, down the hallway, and into the bathroom shut the door and locked it. I turned the shower on and fell asleep.

In his fourth God’s Generals volume, Roberts Liardon chronicles God’s great healing evangelists of the twentieth century. Journey with such paragons of faith as: Oral Roberts—one of the most influential Christian leaders in the twentieth century, Roberts had a healing ministry that spread from rural tent meetings to a world-class university, hospital, and medical school. Lester Sumrall—after being miraculously healed of tuberculosis as a boy, Sumrall dedicated the rest of his life to sharing the gospel and God’s healing power with audiences around the world, both in person and through television broadcasts. Charles and Frances Hunter—often called the “Happy Hunters,” Charles and Frances were known around the world as two of the most anointed and enthusiastic evangelists on earth. George Jeffreys—this Welsh Pentecostal preacher ministered along with his brother Stephen at camps, conventions, and church meetings across England and Ireland, with reports of miraculous healings and other acts of God accompanying them. F. F. Bosworth—a Depression-era Pentecostal faith healer and one of the founders of the Assemblies of God, Bosworth was known during the 1920s for his interdenominational “big tent” revivals and large auditorium healing meetings. As you read about the lives of these ministry pioneers, your faith for signs and miracles will grow as you anticipate seeing God’s mighty hand move in the church today.
