¿East Coast Europe,¿ which took place during Spring 2008, is a project about the perceptions of contemporary European identity and its relation to spatial practices and international politics. The title ¿East Coast Europe¿ is a word play. ¿Europe¿ in the title is the central topic for investigation, its contemporary culture, expansion, and its status as a continuing social project. ¿East Coast¿ refers to two distinct edges of Europe, both real and imaginary¿the geographical East Coast of the United States of America and the political ¿East Coast¿ of the European Union. The project invited leading figures in culture and politics from the two east coasts¿of the United States of America, and of the countries in the European Union and its vicinity to comment on their perception of Europe today. East Coast Europe dives into the urgent details of a dense network of contemporary experience of the European Union¿s extensive exchange of knowledge, people, and goods with the East Coast of the United States and also with its own eastern border. What are its challenges and possibilities for social, political and spatial practices? The East Coast of the United States is, arguably, the most interesting region in America. The earliest settlers to the new continent came to the East Coast, mostly from Europe. They brought with them rich, ancient cultures, unique foods, a chance for a new life and, most of all, they brought a thirst for freedom. Most of these immigrants had come from living under one form of tyranny or another. They all seemed to be searching for independence and a simple, but comfortable, way of life. Each of the fifteen states along the east coast of America was founded by peoples seeking political or religious freedom. Europe's population had outgrown the land. Food was getting scarce. The primary fuel and building material of the time was wood. European countries had cut down most of their forests, and trees were not able to grow fast enough to keep up with demand. The knowledge that a continent with seemingly endless forests and endless fertile land was too good to resist. They came in droves. Over the generations, these immigrants and their offspring built a life and country that was the envy of the world. This did not come without struggle, hardship, work, innovation and even war. This book contains a series of stories, each of which takes place or begins in one of the 15 states that make up the east coast of the United States. One story has nothing to do with the other. The characters in each story are different. Each story takes place in a different time and era. The stories may be true or completely fictitious. There is only one common theme in these stories, which the reader is left to discover. Fear not. If you do not discover the theme, it will not take away from whatever humor, intrigue, or discovery you may find in each story. The book is simply meant to be entertaining. Hopefully, you will enjoy the journey!

Geology Of The Eastern Coast written by Cynthia Light Brown and has been published by Nomad Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-03-01 with Juvenile Nonfiction categories.

Taking a unique approach to a fascinating region of the United States, this activity guide looks at the underlying processes that have shaped the Eastern Coast. Beginning with the connection between geology and geography, the chapters move into a discussion of plate tectonics and landforms such as the Appalachian Mountains, Piedmont area, and Coastal Plains. The aspects of climate, rivers and lakes, and the ecosystems of the temperate forest and wetlands—including bayous and the Everglades—are covered in detail. Engaging sidebars explain why the New River is one of the oldest in the world, how once-endangered alligators are now thriving, how hurricanes form, and more. Combining fun facts with hands-on experiments, this handbook features projects such as building folded mountains, creating dissolving “corals,” and making an eye of a storm.
