This research work studied the effect of global financial crisis on Nigeria economy in Nigeria. The financial crisis ravaging the global economy is naturally a serious cause for concern to policy makers. Secondary data were used in this study, the data were collected from CBN statistical bulletin also data were also gathered from journals and textbook that are related to the research topic. The overall significance of the regression is tested using Fisher's statistics. In this study the calculated F* value of 47.375 is significant at 5%. The result however show that linear relationship exist between the dependent and the independent variables of the model. The evidence established that the independent explanatory variables have individual and combine impact on the market capitalization in Nigeria. There is significant relationship between global financial crisis and capital market in Nigeria. Some of the recommendations made in this study are that. There is an urgent need for the total overhaul of regulations and regulatory framework, in order to enhance both the on-site and off-site examination and supervision of the banks. There is the need for increased and enhanced provisions for consumer protection. Nigerian economy is a mono-economy; any crash on the price of oil internationally will cripple our economy. So it is a matter of urgency for the Nigerian economy to divest into agriculture, manufacturing, information technology etc. Political stability is an important factor that encourages investment in an economy. So our nascent democracy should be nurtured.

The world economy is facing the most severe financial crisis since the Great Depression of the last century. The risk of global recession has heightened significantly and volatility of commodity prices, which is the mainstay of most developing countries like Nigeria, has increased further. If this situation continues to deteriorate, developing countries could be in great jeopardy. This study examined the influence of the Global Financial Crisis on Nigerian economy. It was discovered that the financial crisis will cause fall in commodity prices, decline in export, lower portfolio and FDI inflow, fall in equity market, decline in remittance from abroad etc. It was recommended that the federal government should come up with intervention policies that will minimize these effects and jump start the economy and that business operator should learn to do things using resources at their disposal to develop and expand at manageable level to stem the tide of the crisis.

In 2007, the mortgage crisis in the United States of America affected financial markets and later developed into a global financial crisis.The crisis quickly spilled over to contents including Africa.initially, policy makers in Nigeria believed the Nigerian economy was insulated but sooner, the effect on the economy started manifesting(in the second quarter of 2008).One of the sectors seriously affected by the financial crisis was the oil sector which contributes largely to the economy of Nigeria. Nigeria is basically regarded as a mono economy relying heavily of export of crude oil.for some time now, crude oil contributes at least 60% of the entire nations revenue rising to over 80% at some point. The financial crisis led to a significant decline in the price of crude oil.This development significantly reduce the revenue accruing to the Nigerian Government. this work examined the extend of the impact of the recent financial crisis on the the Nigerian oil sector.

This research paper examines the impacts of the global financial crisis on the Nigerian banking industry with particular emphasis on branding of bank services. The objective of this study is to determine what effects the crisis had on the Nigerian economy and to examine its effects on branding of bank services. It also focused on measures put in place to mitigate the negative effects of economic meltdown by the central Bank of Nigeria. Primary data were generated through in-depth interview and the use of the questionnaire. The study employed the use of chi-square in analyzing the data obtained. The findings of this study pointed out the fact that the global economic meltdown had a deteriorating effect on all sectors in the economy and had a greater effect on the financial sector in Nigeria most especially the banking sector. However, this economic meltdown has a positive effect on branding of bank services. Banks are investing on branding more than ever before, in order to survive the turbulent environment. It is therefore recommended that the regulators of the banking sector need to strengthen their legal framework in order to close all avenues which may create gaps for unethical practices to take place. Managements of banks are also encouraged to embrace internal marketing in order to promote excellent service culture.
