Elling Asleson, son of Asle Ellingson and Helge Andresdtr, was born 25 Nov 1804 near Hol, Hallingdal, Norway. He married Gruo Tolleivdatter, daughter of Tolleiv Sveinson and Kari Knutsdtr, on 7 Nov 1827. They had 8 children. The family immigrated to America settling in Iowa, North Dakota, Minnesota, South Dakota, and other areas in the United States and Canada.
