The Origin Of The Capitalist Firm written by Weiying Zhang and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-13 with Business & Economics categories.

The book addresses the entrepreneurial origin of the capitalist firm and its asymmetric contractual relationships between capitalists, workers, managers and entrepreneurs, and explains the origin of the firm by focusing on entrepreneurship. A hidden action model shows how assigning residual claim to entrepreneurs can provide a better overall incentive; a hidden information model demonstrates that capitalists are given priority and have authority to select the management, because capital can signal entrepreneurial ability; and a general equilibrium entrepreneurial model shows that the equilibrium relationships between different members of the firm depend on the joint distribution of ability, wealth and risk attitudes in the population. Overall, the book reveals that the capitalist firm is more efficient, not only because it provides better incentives but also because it ensures that the most entrepreneurial people control the firm.

The Theory Of The Firm written by Daniel F. Spulber and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-04-06 with Business & Economics categories.

The Theory of the Firm presents a path-breaking general framework for understanding the economics of the firm. The book addresses why firms exist, how firms are established, and what contributions firms make to the economy. The book presents a new theoretical analysis of the foundations of microeconomics that makes institutions endogenous. Entrepreneurs play a central economic role by establishing firms. In turn, firms create and operate markets and organizations. The book provides innovative models of economic equilibrium that endogenously determine the structure and function of economic institutions. The book proposes an 'intermediation hypothesis' - the establishment of firms depends on the effects of transaction costs and on the extent of the market.

Understanding The Myth Of High Growth Firms written by Malin Brännback and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-08 with Business & Economics categories.

In this volume, the authors challenge some long held assumptions about entrepreneurial firms held by academics, public policy makers, investors and even entrepreneurs themselves. The first is assumption is that growth is what really differentiates an entrepreneurial firm from a small business. The second is that growth is always good. Third, if growth is rapid, and/or high growth, it is even better. Drawing from a fresh review of the literature, their own primary research and experience in entrepreneurial ventures, the authors argue that the relationship between growth and firm performance is, in fact, inconclusive. Despite the strength of contemporary bias, there is strong evidence that the growth-profitability relationship is problematic. For example, rapid growth may lead to considerable organizational challenges that can seriously constrain a firm’s ability to generate sustainable profits. Also, it is not uncommon that a growth firm becomes a victim of its own success. Using examples from industries as diverse as airlines, accounting, biotechnology, information technology, personal products, wineries, and food establishments, the authors highlight limitations to research due to variations in the choice of growth indicators, the calculation of growth measures, the measurement periods, and whether objective or subjective measures have been used. Moreover, researchers have equated growth with high growth and almost automatically assumed that this also means high technology, while policy makers appear to have interpreted this as high employment. Armed with more precise definitions and understandings of key concepts and the nature of their causality, the authors consider the implications of restoring profitability to the core of entrepreneurship for future research, firm strategy, financing, organizational structure, resource allocation, and public policy.

The book is about building a career and a business while being honest and treating people fairly and still being successful. It says the average person can succeed in life with a plan. The book follows my 40+ year business career that culminated in me starting my own business from scratch and building it into a $5-million firm within 12 years and surviving and thriving in the very tough economic times of 2008 and 2009. The book shares the lessons I learned in my 40+ year business career that will help anyone building their career and business. there are many humorous and funny anecdotes that bring the book to life and are entertaining. But, I do speak honestly about some of the negative lessons learned along the way many from people who did not follow my code of honest and ethics. Can we be honest and succeed? Absolutely! I share how we fired our largest clients/customers three years in a row and yet managed year to year growth until 2008. The importance of planning and life-long learning is critical to success. I share what I learned -both good and bad - from some of the mentors and people I worked with that will help readers see that doing what is right, and being honest, is the ONLY policy. I talk about my years as providing public relations services to The Stroh Brewery Company and have a 50 page history entitled: The Rise and Fall of Stroh's beer as a major brand, 1975 - 1999. It is a history of Stroh's beer during those years. I also share some of the major business experiences such as chairing the national effort for drivers in America to wear safety belts while driving. This effort was named by one publication: The most significant change in American attitudes of the 20th century. The book also shares the story of getting the state of Michigan to be a "Smoke Free" state to eliminate smoking in public places. At my company, John Bailey & Associates Public Relations, not once did a woman make less money than a man in the same or similar position. The Power of Ownership is about not just owning a business but owning yourself. You own yourself so go out and make YOU the best you can be. It is up to you but, The Power of Ownership: How to Build a Career and a Business will help.
