Life is not a cakewalk for any of us. We each have our individual sufferings and challenges in life, and we each must endure vital questions that have no certain answers. Why are we here? Where is God when we need him? How do our lives matter in the long run? Our science cannot help us with such questions, but theology can. And that's what this book has to offer. This book's theology is based on an arresting theory about God. Turning to modern physics, it finds God in the origin of the universe and in the innermost foundations of the natural world. The universe flowed from his nature, but his nature was not perfect, which is why we have an imperfect world where bad things happen to good people. And yet we also find this God deep within us, enabling us to confront our suffering with resilience and grace. The evil in the world has power, but we have power too, the power from our inner God to hold steady against the slings and arrows of our misfortunes. The theology presented here builds on the discoveries of particle physics and quantum mechanics about the foundational building blocks and forces in all of creation. These reveal the abounding spirit and purposes of the Creator--a spirit that empowers us and instills in us purposes we can embrace and foster. It may seem we are essentially on our own as we navigate through life, but in this book's theology, God is always and everywhere with us and in us.

This book is a serious attempt by Asian scholars to reflect on various aspects of the Asian Pentecostal movement. It joins a small but growing list of works on this critical subject. Second, it presents an Asian perspective on one of the most important figures in Asian Pentecostalism in this generation, Dr. David Yonggi Cho, who clearly stands out as one of the most preeminient Pentecostals anywhere in the world.

Norgate assesses the way in which the Christian doctrine of the Trinity is the foundation for all other Christian doctrines, especially the Christian understanding of salvation. He investigates in detail the approach of the German Lutheran theologian, Isaac A. Dorner (1809-1884) to this question. Analysis of his arguments concerning the priority of the doctrine of God for Christian belief and dogmatics is given. It examines the form of his doctrine of God's triunity, and gives an extensive study of how Dorner's particular account of God's triune identity informs the Christian conception of God's relation to the world, first, as Creator and, second, as Saviour. In this process, it seeks to refocus attention on Dorner as a major figure in the development of modern theology. The relationship between Dorner's doctrines of the triune God and salvation is assesed. Dorner's positive reconstruction of the Christian idea of God as Trinity provides helpful resources in delineating a non-competitive account of God's relation to the world. This means that God is not confused with nor distant from the world. The eternal vitality of God's immanent personality is the basis of His vital economic activity, which culminates in the incarnation of the Son. We follow the main tributories of Dorner's arguments in System of Christian Faith, beginning with an analysis of his doctrine of God, via his development of the doctrines of creation, humanity, and the incarnation of the God-man. An assessment is given of those doctrines which pertain to the way in which God brings salvation through Jesus Christ: sin, Jesus, and atonement. Norgate concludes by comparing Dorner's achievements with those found in more recent theologies of atonement.

Summa Theologica All Complete Unabridged 3 Parts Supplement Appendix Interactive Links And Annotations written by Thomas Aquinas and has been published by Good Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-12-05 with Religion categories.
In his magnum opus, "Summa Theologica," Thomas Aquinas endeavors to systematize the entirety of Christian theology, presenting complex theological doctrines in a structured and accessible manner. The work is divided into three parts, addressing questions of God, ethics, and the sacraments, enriched with annotations and interactive links that enhance reader engagement. Aquinas employs a dialectical style, utilizing the Scholastic method of questioning and answering, which fosters a profound understanding of faith and reason'Äôs relationship, a hallmark of medieval scholasticism. His synthesis of Aristotelian philosophy with Christian doctrine marks a pivotal contribution to Western thought, addressing fundamental issues that resonate through subsequent theological discourse. Thomas Aquinas, a thirteenth-century philosopher and theologian, is often heralded as one of the foremost figures in Western philosophy. His formative experiences in the intellectual and spiritual milieu of the Dominican order, coupled with his engagement with the works of Aristotle, significantly influenced his theological perspectives. The "Summa Theologica" reflects Aquinas'Äôs commitment to exploring the depths of divine truth while accommodating human reason, seeking a harmonious integration of faith and intellect, earning him acclaim as a Doctor of the Church. I highly recommend "Summa Theologica" for scholars and laypersons alike, as it serves not only as a theological treatise but as an enduring guide to moral reasoning and spiritual inquiry. The interactive elements in this edition enrich the reading experience, allowing for deeper engagement with Aquinas's insights into ethics, divine law, and the nature of God. This work remains essential for anyone seeking to understand the foundations of Christian theology and its implications for contemporary faith and reason.
