The Eye Of The I written by David R. Hawkins and has been published by Veritas Publishing Company this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-07-01 with Consciousness categories.

This book describes advanced states of consciousness and the way to spiritual Enlightenment. It includes dialogues with both beginning as well as advanced spiritual students worldwide. The nature of consciousness is described in terms that reveal and simplify the spiritual process itself. The nonlinear reality of the enlightened sage is thereby made comprehensible to the reasoning mind. The scope of this work is immense. It includes not only a detailed, subjective report of very advanced states of spiritual consciousness traditionally called Enlightenment, but, for the first time, correlates and recontextualizes spiritual information in such a manner as to make it comprehensible to reason and the intellect. This correlation between science and spirituality represents a cohesive integration between the linear and nonlinear dimensions. By "transcending the opposites," the author resolves the age-old, seemingly irresolvable conflict and impasse between science and religion.

In this book Wilber presents a model of consciousness that encompasses empirical, psychological, and spiritual modes of understanding. Wilber examines three realms of knowledge: the empirical realm of the senses, the rational realm of the mind, and the contemplative realm of the spirit. Eye to Eye points the way to a broader, more inclusive understanding of ourselves and the universe.

Eye For An Eye written by William Ian Miller and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-12-19 with Law categories.

This book is a historical and philosophical meditation on paying back and buying back, that is, it is about retaliation and redemption. It takes the law of the talion - eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth - seriously. In its biblical formulation that law states the value of my eye in terms of your eye, the value of your teeth in terms of my teeth. Eyes and teeth become units of valuation. But the talion doesn't stop there. It seems to demand that eyes, teeth, and lives are also to provide the means of payment. Bodies and body parts, it seems, have a just claim to being not just money, but the first and precisest of money substances. In its highly original way, the book offers a theory of justice, not an airy theory though. It is about getting even in a toughminded, unsentimental, but respectful way. And finds that much of what we take to be justice, honor, and respect for persons requires, at its core, measuring and measuring up.

Malcolm Muggeridge was one of Great Britain's most well-known journalists and television personalities, having interviewed practically every major public figure of his time. He shocked the world with his conversion to Christianity later in life. "St. Mugg", as he was affectionately known, was clear in his new-found faith: It is the truth that has died, not God, and "Jesus was God or he was nothing." These wonderful selections of Muggeridge's writings and speeches cover a wide variety of spiritual themes, revealing his profound faith, great wit, and lively writing style. Topics include "Jesus: The Man Who Lives", "Is There a God?", "The Prospect of Death", "Do We Need Religion?", "Peace and Power", and many more. "The counter-countercultural declaration of Mr. Muggeridge's conversion was especially eye-catching given the great legions traveling in the opposite direction. His larger public knew him through his work as a television host and critic. But all of literate England, and much of America, knew him as a learned and incisive journalist who had written Winter in Moscow, a searing exposé of Communism. His intellect and historical savoir-faire gave his criticisms a very long reach. In America he made regular appearances as book editor of Esquire magazine. No Englishman has a more mordant, more attractive wit." —William F. Buckley, Jr., From the Introduction

Vanities Of The Eye written by Stuart Clark and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-03-29 with Art categories.

In this original and fascinating book, Stuart Clark investigates the cultural history of the senses in early modern Europe. At a time in which the nature and reliability of human vision was a focus for debate in medicine, art theory, science, and philosophy, there was an explosion of interest in the truth (or otherwise) of miracles, dreams, magic, and witchcraft. Was seeing really believing? Vanities of the Eye wonderfully illustrates how this was woven into contemporary works such as Macbeth - deeply concerned with the dangers of visual illusion - and exposes early modern theories on the relationship between the real and the virtual.
