In Bill Martin's collection of short stories entitled, The Fabulous Ordinary, he observes how nature's many inhabitants work together, co-existing through seasonal changes and life challenges. Credentialed with a good number of years-to-date of observing and living, he uses the "out back" of his home on Sturgis Road as the setting for tales about animals and nature -- many possessing human thoughts and characteristics that reflect human life. Stories about these Sturgis Road "shareholders" parallel human triumphs and struggles. Many times, we are more open to lessons learned as observed through someone else, or even through our animal friends -- after all, tales about animals do not implicate us. With each reading, individuals are likely to glean something different and new. One may interpret these tales to be about endearing animal friends, life in general, politics, or spirituality. Still other tales may be interpreted as reflective sentimental stories inspired by the wisdom of living. Perspective is different for each of us, depending on one's own life experience. Some may discover their own interpretation of each tale changes over several years' time and more living. And -- some may even recognize something of themselves in this interdependent community -- in the shareholders who live just off Sturgis Road.

The Fantastic Ordinary World Of Lutz Rathenow written by Lutz Rathenow and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Literary Collections categories.

With his flat tone, humdrum incidents and Angst-ridden characters, Berlin author Lutz Rathenow reproduces the effect of a political and social reality so banal and obtuse as to be beyond belief. His poetry is not poetry, but malformed prose seeking expression for the feeling of being spied upon by the moon. His plays are not plays, but paper-doll cutouts of Communist citizens with medals and platitudes pasted on. His stories are not stories, but curious crossbreeds of secret diary entries, dissident essays and cabaret lampoons. Bilingual edition (German and English). Translated by Boria Sax and Imogen von Tannenberg.

Struggling For Ordinary written by Andre Cavalcante and has been published by NYU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-03-06 with Social Science categories.

An in-depth look at the role of media in the struggle for transgender inclusion From television shows like Orange is the New Black and Transparent, to the real-life struggles of Caitlyn Jenner splashed across the headlines, transgender visibility is on the rise. But what was it like to live as a transgender person in a media environment before this transgender boom in television? While pop culture imaginations of transgender identity flourish and shape audience’s perceptions of trans identities, what does this new media visibility mean for transgender individuals themselves? Struggling for Ordinary engagingly answers these questions, offering a snapshot of how transgender individuals made their way toward a sense of ordinary life by integrating available media into their everyday experiences. Drawing on in-depth interviews with transgender communities, Andre Cavalcante offers a richly detailed account of how the media impacts the lives and experiences of transgender individuals. He grippingly looks at the emotional toll that media takes on this population along with their resilience in the face of disempowerment. Deeply rooted in the life stories of transgender people, the book uses everyday circumstances to show how media and technology operate as a medium through which transgender individuals are able to cultivate an understanding of their identities, build inhabitable worlds, and achieve the routine affordances of everyday life from which they are often excluded. Expertly researched and eloquently argued, Struggling for Ordinary sheds a fascinating new light of the everyday struggles of individuals and communities, to seek a life in which transgender identity is fully integrated into the ordinary.
