Unfinished Stage Projects unveils the hidden history of abandoned theatrical productions, offering a unique perspective on theatre history and the performing arts. It argues that these unrealized endeavors, from incomplete scripts to abandoned set designs, offer valuable insights into the creative process, cultural shifts, and artistic collaboration. For example, some projects succumbed to financial constraints, highlighting the precarious balance between artistic vision and commercial viability, while others were victims of censorship, demonstrating the impact of societal norms on artistic expression. The book explores these ""unfinished"" projects through meticulous research, drawing from archival materials, original scripts, and biographical accounts to reconstruct the creative process and understand the factors leading to their downfall. Beginning with a framework for understanding the concept of ""unfinished"" in theatre, it progresses through case studies examining financial difficulties, censorship, and personal conflicts that derailed productions. This approach provides a fresh viewpoint, focusing on the often-overlooked failures that shaped the evolution of performance, making it valuable for theatre enthusiasts and scholars alike.

In Black & White Music report I investigated a very small part of the music industry from the USA (0.09% musicians); more precisely, I investigated the contribution and the artistic merit (greater or lesser) of black artists (0.03%) and white artists (0.05%) in the production and writing of their albums. The artists investigated in this report are Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan, Adele and Beck. I selected these artists because the music produced and released by them was used by various artists and journalists as examples of allegations of discrimination and racism which takes place in the music industry in the USA. The aim of the research is split into 2 levels: in the first level: I explored, analysed and created a comparative study about the contribution and the artistic merit of black and white artists in the production and writing of their albums; to achieve this aim, I added contribution and artistic merit into one bubble of research and treated the two concepts with the same meaning, then I divided the bubble into 8 points of research. the second level: is about using the findings from the eight points of research to offer a response to three conventional wisdom advanced by black artists and their supporters against the rules and awards offered by The Recording Academy. Black & White Music report it is unique and original which investigates the artistic merit of six of the best artists in the music industry of the USA; in these pages, there is an advanced comparative analysis of the music released by famous artists that was never done before. Black & White Music report was born out of the urgent need to confront and challenge the three conventional wisdom advanced by black artists and their supporters who feel and promote the idea of injustice regarding the music released. Black & White Music report can be used to calm the realities of discrimination and racism and provides a point of reference of the quality, originality and novelty of the music investigated in these pages; also, it is for future artists waiting to be discovered, and what they need to expect once they are part of the music industry. What we can learn about human nature from the informative, manipulative, confusing, and amusing messages at the bottom of the web. Online comment can be informative or misleading, entertaining or maddening. Haters and manipulators often seem to monopolize the conversation. Some comments are off-topic, or even topic-less. In this book, Joseph Reagle urges us to read the comments. Conversations “on the bottom half of the Internet,” he argues, can tell us much about human nature and social behavior. Reagle visits communities of Amazon reviewers, fan fiction authors, online learners, scammers, freethinkers, and mean kids. He shows how comment can inform us (through reviews), improve us (through feedback), manipulate us (through fakery), alienate us (through hate), shape us (through social comparison), and perplex us. He finds pre-Internet historical antecedents of online comment in Michelin stars, professional criticism, and the wisdom of crowds. He discusses the techniques of online fakery (distinguishing makers, fakers, and takers), describes the emotional work of receiving and giving feedback, and examines the culture of trolls and haters, bullying, and misogyny. He considers the way comment—a nonstop stream of social quantification and ranking—affects our self-esteem and well-being. And he examines how comment is puzzling—short and asynchronous, these messages can be slap-dash, confusing, amusing, revealing, and weird, shedding context in their passage through the Internet, prompting readers to comment in turn, “WTF?!?”

"The Projecting Age" was a term the English novelist Daniel Defoe used to describe the end of the seventeenth century. This term could just as easily be used, however, to describe the period known as the "Long Eighteenth Century" (1660-1789). The Age of Projects uses the notion of a project as a key to understanding the massive social, cultural, political, literary, and scientific transitions that occurred in Europe during this time. The contributors to this collection examine fraudulent, grandiose, altruistic, and idealistic projects that reveal the period's radical breaks from the past and its preoccupation with the future. Examining topics as diverse as Jonathan Swift's satire on the possibility of a computer, to Gottfried Leibniz's effort to build one, and Edmund Burke's prediction that the project of democratic governance would be taken over by greedy adventurers, this volume provides significant insight into the period's ambitions for an improved future. A well-balanced collection by leading scholars from diverse disciplines, The Age of Projects is a significant contribution to intellectual history, literary history, and the history of science.

Painting Feuds examines the intense rivalries that fueled artistic innovation throughout history. Going beyond simple biographies, the book delves into the competitive spirit among artists, revealing how personal animosity and the desire for patronage shaped the art world. The book highlights how artists rarely worked in isolation and how the pressure to outdo peers greatly influenced artistic styles and movements. The book explores specific painting feuds, such as the famous competition between Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, analyzing them within their historical context, considering the influence of art critics and prevailing tastes. It is structured to first introduce the concept of artistic rivalry, then present in-depth case studies, and finally examine the lasting impact of these feuds on art history. The investigation also touches on the art market and the long-term consequences of artistic endeavors. Ultimately, Painting Feuds argues that these rivalries, while often destructive, served as catalysts for progress in art history. By examining these conflicts, the book challenges the idea of the solitary artistic genius and demonstrates how competition can be a powerful driver of creativity.

Most science chronicles present a triumphant march through time, with revolutionary thinkers and their discoveries following in orderly progression. The truth, however, is somewhat different. Scientific Feuds is a collection of the most vicious battles among the greatest minds of our time. It features such contests as Huxley and Wilberforce's debate on Darwin's theory of evolution, Franklin and Wilkins' fight over the discovery of DNA, and the "War of Currents" between Tesla and Edison (which ended with Edison electrocuting dogs and horses in a vain attempt to discredit Tesla's work). From passionate competition to vindictive sniping, these rivalries prove that the world of science is far from cold and methodical.
