Aiden MacGill has died but remained on his property. He is saddened that he has not gone to heaven with his wife. When they lived in Scotland, Fiona grew weak and sick from the cold weather of the Highlands. He bought property in Placer California because he heard that there was gold in the hills. He brought his wife there and settle in a cabin he built next to his gold mine. He latter returned to Scotland with his two sons and dismantled the out buildings on his property. He shipped the stones to California and with the help of his sons he built a wee castle often referred to as a manor house. He was very lucky and hit a mother load. But all that gold did him little good when his wife died. When he died and didn't go to heaven he became very angry with God. He turned his back on God and hated Hm. When he died his sons sold the estate to a group of nuns that ran the castle as a boarding school for girls. When they could not pay the taxes they abandon the estate. Thirty years later Finnian MacGill, an ancestor to Aiden MacGill, took on the property with the intent to restore the carriage house to an event center and the castle to a bed and breakfast. He and his sons worked on the carriage house to extend the loft to house three bedrooms with en suites with the intent to live there while they worked on the castle. He hired his soon to be daughter-in-law who had her own design business to refurbish the classrooms back to bedrooms with the addition of en suites in each room. He promised to hire a carpenter to help her with the project. When the carpenter showed up, Bridget was impressed with his skills and the speed in which he got things done. However, some of the projects were completed in superhuman time. Bridget became skeptical and confronted Mac to explain how he was able to work so fast. He admitted to her that he was a ghost and worked with another ghost that was new to death and had trouble materializing. After they proved to her that they were ghosts, she was told that she could not reveal their secret. This posed a problem because she had promised her newly wed husband that she would not keep secrets from him and he pledged the same to her.The two projects were coming along nicely, but cashflow became a problem. When Mac learned of this he produced gold nuggets that he still had. This allowed the projects to proceed. When Bridget was away, Mac and Ralph accidently was visible to Mr. Stewart who was the farmer that was putting in a vegetable garden and fruit orchard on the property. They realized that by being visible to everyone the could be 'hidden in plain sight.' When Ian saw how handsome Mac was and how Bridget enjoyed working with him, he became jealous. No matter what Bridget did or said to assuage his jealousy nothing stuck. So Bridget insisted that they seek counseling. Ian did work hard to overcome his insecurities that caused his jealousy. When cashflow became a problem for the family, Mac produced gold nuggets that Bridget sold for cash. Mac finally confided in Bridget and told her that he want to get back in relationship with God. She was such a good model of love and care for all her staff. He wanted to learn more about why he has not gone to heaven. Bridget told him that he had to love God with all his mind, heart, and soul. She brought him through a believers prayer and bought him a red-letter Bible to study Jesus words and meditate on them.He wanted to go to confession with a priest, but could not leave the property. Bridget got permission from the bishop to build a chapel on the property. She had Mac and Ralph build the chapel. He was able to go to confession with a priest. The priest gave him a creative penance that he promised to fulfill.

Horace B. Otis, a wealthy American, purchases Canterville Chase, an ancient English manor-house, despite warnings that the house is known to be haunted. The Otis family takes a pragmatic perspective and scrubs the stain away; they repeat the process when the stain continues to reappear every morning.
