Excerpt from The Gospel of Paul: The Gospel of Jesus The object of this little work is to present in a popular form the teaching of the Apostle Paul with regard to the Life and Work of Jesus Christ, what he calls "his gospel," and to show how it harmonises with the teaching of Christ and His Apostles. While the cry of our day, "Back to Christ," has led to a more profound study of the words of Christ, it has to some extent tended to depreciate the teaching of Paul. It is true the Saviour does not dwell at length on His atoning death, but we can understand His silence when we remember the unwillingness of His hearers to listen to anything He had to say about His death. It must also be borne in mind that Paul claimed to have received his gospel from Christ Himself. What I have tried to do is to trace the gospel as presented by Paul in his Epistles. I have added three papers on the Epistle to the Hebrews and the General Epistles of Peter and John to exhibit the agreement between the teaching of the great Apostle and those who were the immediate disciples of the Saviour, or who represented the current teaching about the person and work of Christ. The Rev. P. Rutherford and Rev. William Young, M.A., of Glasgow, have assisted me with the proof-sheets, and to them my grateful thanks are due. Excerpt from The Gospel of Paul: The Gospel of Jesus Have no doubt been largely determined by the writings of the Apostle Paul. The statements of the Saviour regard ing His own person and work, plain and pregnant as these are, run into a peculiar and definite mould when passing through the mind of Paul, and come forth stamped with his own individuality. In more recent times some critics have endeavoured to make out that the writings of the great Apostle set forth a different gospel from that contained in the sayings of Jesus as recorded in the Synoptic Gospels. We recognise the profound truth of Peter's words, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life. But it does not follow that the same Spirit of Truth who spake in and through Jesus Christ (heb. Ii. Does not. What is the gospel? The bible reveals that it as a dynamic message which was given to the early church by direct revelation from God; a message of Godly wisdom which leads the perishing to redemption and transcends time, culture, and morality. Paul held that it was the very power of God to those who are being saved. Why, then, has the scriptural gospel become one of the most neglected and rejected teachings in the church today? In his first book, Forbes explores the Gospel that Paul preached though biblical accounts and the apostle's own writings, piecing together the evidence for a gospel message that has been in existence since the birth of the church but has fallen out of favor in the last century. This book is a call to abandon a message of worldly wisdom and once again embrace 'the foolishness of preaching' as did the early Christians. You may never view the gospel in the same light again.

From Bible teacher John MacArthur, a revelatory exploration of what the apostle Paul actually taught about the Good News of Jesus. The apostle Paul penned a number of very concise, focused passages in his letters to the early church that summarize the gospel message in just a few well-chosen words. Each of these key texts has a unique emphasis highlighting some essential aspect of the Good News of Jesus Christ. The chapters in this revelatory new book closely examine those vital gospel texts, one verse at a time. John MacArthur, host of the popular media ministry Grace to You, tackles such questions as: What is the gospel? What are the essential elements of the message? How can we be certain we have it right? And how should Christians be proclaiming the Good News to the world? As always, the answers John MacArthur gives are clear, compelling, well-reasoned, easy to grasp, and above all, thoroughly biblical. The Gospel According to Paul is written in a style that is easily accessible to lay people, including those who know very little about the Bible, while being of great value to seasoned pastors and experienced ministers. The Gospel According to Paul is the third in a series of books on the gospel by John MacArthur including – The Gospel According to Jesus and The Gospel According to the Apostles. The Gospel According to Paul is also available in Spanish, Evangelio según Pablo.

The gospel is often presented as little more than a "get out of hell free" pass. But is that all there is to it? What made it so compelling that the Apostle Paul would give up everything, enduring hardships and deprivation to preach good news? David deSilva argues that some Christians have unintentionally reduced the gospel to a message Paul would hardly recognize. The "gift of righteousness" is far richer than many of us have dared to imagine! In Transformation: The Heart of Paul's Gospel, deSilva examines the gospel message as presented in Paul's letters. He demonstrates that Paul had nothing less than in mind than the means to transform and renew all of creation--including ourselves. Prepare to let Paul's message of change and renewal transform your own thinking.
