As a wanderer in a mystical land, Azul must take an esoteric journey through regions of the unknown. As a traveller in a world of fantasy he must make decisions that lead him to himself to discover just how powerful he really is. While lost in translation at the encompassing world around him, Azul must come to terms with who he is as he learns of a sacred place within the book. Called the Eocene, a place where its people are inclined to spiritual genius.Azul comes to many doorways that lead to unimaginable lands, ultimately leading to the book of life. A beam of light opens from the book and it begins to hover in the air as a gateway opens. Inside is the secret of life, and the origin of the books. Though it may not be as one expects, it is up to the hero to save the watchers, a race of star beings that fell from the heavens at the time of creation. As Azul digs deeper in the mystery of who he is, he finds that his destiny is intertwined into old myths about the old forgotten world, though the aliens and creatures he encounters know all too well about his ancestry in this archaic world. He then meets the Master Of Creation, who reassures to Azul just how important of a person he really is. While keeping it a secret from himself: Orbulon, Azul's trusted sidekick is the guiding light that brings back Azul to himself showing him he is the master of his own reality and that he alone can change the future of whats to come.

Six Masters Of The Spanish Sonnet written by Willis Barnstone and has been published by SIU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997 with Literary Criticism categories.

With poems selected and translated by one of the preeminent translators of our day, this bilingual collection of 112 sonnets by six Spanish-language masters of the form ranges in time from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries and includes the works of poets from Spanish America as well as poets native to Spain. Willis Barnstone's selection of sonnets and the extensive historical and biographical background he supplies serve as a compelling survey of Spanish-language poetry that should be of interest both to lovers of poetry in general and to scholars of Spanish-language literature in particular. Following an introductory examination of the arrival of the sonnet in Spain and of that nation's poetry up to Francisco de Quevedo, Barnstone takes up his six masters in chronological turn, preceding each with an essay that not only presents the sonneteer under discussion but also continues the carefully delineated history of Spanish-language poetry. Consistently engaging and informative and never dull or pedantic, these essays stand alone as appreciations--in the finest sense of that word--of some of the greatest poets ever to write. It is, however, Barnstone's subtle, musical, clear, and concise translations that form the heart of this collection. As Barnstone himself says, "In many ways all my life has been some kind of preparation for this volume."

A Master On The Periphery Of Capitalism written by Roberto Schwarz and has been published by Duke University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-12-12 with Literary Criticism categories.

A Master on the Periphery of Capitalism is a translation (from the original Portuguese) of Roberto Schwarz’s renowned study of the work of Brazilian novelist Machado de Assis (1839–1908). A leading Brazilian theorist and author of the highly influential notion of “misplaced ideas,” Schwarz focuses his literary and cultural analysis on Machado’s The Posthumous Memoirs of Brás Cubas, which was published in 1880. Writing in the Marxist tradition, Schwarz investigates in particular how social structure gets internalized as literary form, arguing that Machado’s style replicates and reveals the deeply embedded class divisions of nineteenth-century Brazil. Widely acknowledged as the most important novelist to have written in Latin America before 1940, Machado had a surprisingly modern style. Schwarz notes that the unprecedented wit, sarcasm, structural inventiveness, and mercurial changes of tone and subject matter found in The Posthumous Memoirs of Brás Cubas marked a crucial moment in the history of Latin American literature. He argues that Machado’s vanguard narrative reflects the Brazilian owner class and its peculiar status in both national and international contexts, and shows why this novel’s success was no accident. The author was able to confront some of the most prestigious ideologies of the nineteenth century with some uncomfortable truths, not the least of which was that slavery remained the basis of the Brazilian economy. A Master on the Periphery of Capitalism will appeal to those with interests in Latin American literature, nineteenth century history, and Marxist literary theory.

The Experiential Caribbean written by Pablo F. Gómez and has been published by UNC Press Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-02-23 with History categories.

Opening a window on a dynamic realm far beyond imperial courts, anatomical theaters, and learned societies, Pablo F. Gomez examines the strategies that Caribbean people used to create authoritative, experientially based knowledge about the human body and the natural world during the long seventeenth century. Gomez treats the early modern intellectual culture of these mostly black and free Caribbean communities on its own merits and not only as it relates to well-known frameworks for the study of science and medicine. Drawing on an array of governmental and ecclesiastical sources—notably Inquisition records—Gomez highlights more than one hundred black ritual practitioners regarded as masters of healing practices and as social and spiritual leaders. He shows how they developed evidence-based healing principles based on sensorial experience rather than on dogma. He elucidates how they nourished ideas about the universality of human bodies, which contributed to the rise of empirical testing of disease origins and cures. Both colonial authorities and Caribbean people of all conditions viewed this experiential knowledge as powerful and competitive. In some ways, it served to respond to the ills of slavery. Even more crucial, however, it demonstrates how the black Atlantic helped creatively to fashion the early modern world.
