"Love your neighbor as yourself" is one of Jesus' most profound commands and is one of many scriptures that led First Grapevine, a United Methodist Church in Texas, to remarkable fields of love and caring both in their backyard and as far away as Kenya, Costa Rica, and Latvia. Hearts for Missions encourages all denominations to follow this command while sharing inspirational stories that inspire and guide others in this ministry. This collection of stories shares distinctive ways to grow missions through building relationships while sharing God's love. In these accounts, parishioners tell how one church's mission teams built relationships while falling in love with neighbors locally and worldwide. From the early stages, the village concept evolved, and it serves as a foundation from which these ministries materialize the mission to become Christ's representatives in the world. In memory of Rev. Dr. Ken Diehm whose life and commitment to missions inspired this book. Throughout these pages, church members celebrate the myriad ways Ken taught them to discover new relationships, love, and joy in unexpected places and to share that joy and love with neighbors in their own backyards and in faraway lands.

As Christians, and especially as people who work for the Church, we are part of an incredible mission: to bring people to Jesus. Jesus himself gave us this mission when he said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" (Mt 28:19). Yet it is far too easy to get caught up in the day-to-day details of our work — so much so that we can lose sight of our true mission. In The Heart of the Mission: Simple Ways to Bring People to Jesus, Cande de Leon shows what it takes to get back on track. With wisdom and humor born of his own experience, he shows how our Christian mission always begins and ends with people. To help us live this in our daily life and work, he guides us through three transformational principles for ministry and life: Strengthening relationships Boldly growing engagement Connecting people to the mission Whether you are a pastor, part of a parish staff, or a volunteer at your home parish, these principles apply to you. Because if we really want to make transformational change in our Church and our world, we first have to recognize the people in front of us — who they are, what they need, what gifts God has given them, and how he is inviting them to participate in the mission of the Church. Not merely another program to transform your parish, this book offers a simple yet radical invitation to roll up your sleeves and make a difference by getting back to basics.>/p> ABOUT THE AUTHOR Cande de Leon has served as executive director of the Office of Mission Advancement for the Diocese of Phoenix since 2016. He leads a team committed to advancing the mission of Christ through stewardship, evangelization, and discipleship formation. He spent seven years in the Diocese of Corpus Christi serving as the director of parish stewardship and development, where he raised over $37 million (with a goal of $18 million) for the Legacy of Faith ~ Future of Hope Capital & Endowment Campaign. Cande has been married to his wife, Rosemary, for 22 years. They have four daughters.

John Wesley has arguably influenced more American Christians than any other Protestant interpreter. 'Hearts in Transcendence' offers an insightful exploration of transcendental consciousness states that challenge the boundaries of human potential. These exceptional states of consciousness have been captured throughout literature, but seldom is the real, tangible, and practical significance of exceptional experiences discussed in the modern world. This book sets out to do just that - to uncover the greater potential of the human being through a practical, applied approach to consciousness states and cosmic experiences of transcendence.

When Jesus departed to be with His eternal Father, He gave the church (the ecclesia) a clear mission statement in Matthew 28, which speaks of the Great Commission. And what is the Great Commission, therefore, the mission? Go and make disciples so that the world may be told of Jesus and, therefore, be saved. Some will say some translations never speak of making disciples, but rather to teach all nations, “baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”. But is the purpose of teaching the nations of Christ not to make disciples? If one teaches someone about Jesus, you are surely equipping them to be a follower of Jesus. And such a follower is a disciple. We are called in God's wisdom and by His Spirit to teach all people about Jesus, for the purpose of making disciples. It doesn’t happen automatically. It will take a concerted and decisive effort of the Bride of God. Time is, however, slipping away to get our house in order with God, and now is the time to do so. We are living in the last days, and the day of the Lord’s coming is at hand. Billions of people are still lost in every city, town, and village across the world. There is no more time to be playing church or to be consumed with our agendas. We need to come into alignment with God, seek Him, and be awake from our slumber. The church has been slumbering for a long time, lulled into sleep by a false sense of security, peace and a sense of accomplishment. Yet there is a mission to complete, which is the Great Commission. It is God’s mission of bringing in the harvest of the lost and broken. Now is the time to get busy with God’s business, and His business is about salvation, redemption and restoration. The call to the church to actively engage in this mission, therefore, to make the main thing the main thing, is covered in volumes one and two.

Have you ever wanted to go back in time to fix something in your life? The Dream Police rejoins the characters from Blazak's 2011 novel, The Mission of the Sacred Heart, fifteen years later. Zak and Lenny are in rapidly gentrifying Portland, Oregon, connected my their mistakes, one horribly tragic. They stumble upon lucid dreaming as a way to visit their favorite moments in rock and roll history, and maybe find alternate routes their own lives should have taken. Like Mission, The Dream Police is a rock novel. The story is built on the 1979 Cheap Trick album, using its songs to guide the musical fiction. The book tackles weighty issues, like gentrification, the commercialization of music, and the sexual politics of higher education, with humor and the energy that comes from a great song. The Dream Police is an innovative story, existing in both real time and dream time. Because it is rooted in the author's experiences as a sociology professor, the book is intended to help people heal. In this spirit, 10% of books sales are being donated to UNICEF for the benefit of refugee children.

The Mission of the Heart is my fifth book and includes poetry written during late 2014 through mid-2015. The thoughts conveyed in these poems are personal to me, and their reproduction in this book is primarily intended to convey concepts of truth, which can be of benefit to others. Some subjects and truths require research and study, so these short poems are intended as food for thought and for further study and investigation by the reader. Although the human mind can develop a thirst for knowledge and wisdom, the process of storing and applying such knowledge and wisdom can be best understood in small doses. Life on earth is a lengthy process of self-development and requires both study and active application in a continuous stream in order to advance both physically and spiritually. The learning process is unending, and many of the most important lessons come through trial and tribulation. As we gain in our self-development, we learn how to blend and merge together our faith, our mental capacity, and our love nature to become believers and disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are each challenged by our assignments yet blessed with the inner strength of the indwelling Christ. We must, therefore, embrace this unique indwelling presence, which makes all good things truly possible!
