The holy spirit - The great teacher is one important bible study about the Holy Spirit. A book that will bring growth and knowledge about faith, and invite him to live with greater intimacy with God. Written by Charles Spurgeon, important preacher Christian. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Charles Haddon (CH) Spurgeon,19 June 1834 - 31 January 1892) was a British Particular Baptist preacher. Spurgeon remains highly influential among Christians of various denominations, among whom he is known as the "Prince of Preachers". He was a strong figure in the Reformed Baptist , defending the Church in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith understanding, and opposing the liberal and pragmatic theological tendencies in the Church of his day. It is estimated that in his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people,Spurgeon was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was part of several controversies with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and later had to leave the denomination. In 1867, he started a charity organisation which is now called Spurgeon's and works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him posthumously. Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, commentaries, books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime. Spurgeon produced powerful sermons of penetrating thought and precise exposition. His oratory skills held his listeners spellbound in the Metropolitan Tabernacle and many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature.

R. A. Torreys books have probably helped more people understand the Bible and have led more souls to Christ than the writings of anyone since the Apostle Paul. Not only was Torrey a great Bible teacher and preacher, he was also filled with the Holy Spirit. He lived what he preached. In his worldwide revival crusades, Torrey presented three main teachings: on Christ, on prayer, and on the person of the Holy Spirit. This book focuses on the latter teaching: The Holy Spirit: Who He Is and What He Does. In addition to Torreys teaching on the person of the Holy Spirit, this book presents seven of his shorter teachings, which he shared at Moody Bible Institute, in the churches he pastored, and in various places around the world. These seven teachings are on: The Deity of Jesus Christ. The Power of the Blood. The Power of the Holy Spirit. The Power of Prayer. The Power of the Word of God. The Place of Prayer in Evangelism. Keep Praying Until God Answers. When you read this book, you will receive definite personal blessing in your heart, life, and service, and you will know who the Holy Spirit is and what He does.

The book is divided into three parts. Part One provides a thematic analysis and exegetical commentary on all the relevant biblical and cognate literature, including Josephus, Philo and the Mishnah. Part Two investigates the thinking of key Christian theologians on the Holy Spirit, from the Apostolic Fathers to eighteenth century authors such as John Wesley and Jonathan Edwards. Part Three examines more recent writings on the Spirit, from the nineteenth century onwards, including major systematic theologians such as Schleiermacher, Barth and Moltmann, as well as biblical scholars such as James D G Dunn, Gordon Fee and Gerd Theissen. Thiselton concludes the entire study by identifying seven fundamental themes, and calling for greater dialogue between mainstream scholarship and contemporary leaders of the Pentecostal and Renewal movements.

**A never before released volume from the Prince of Preachers on the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit** "In our day a biblical understanding of the Spirit's work is sorely needed. Confusion about who He is and what He does abounds, and too often we proceed through life relying on our power rather than His. Many contemporary works about the Holy Spirit are focused solely on either promoting or refuting the excesses of the extreme charismatic movement, and so there is a need to examine what Scripture has to say on the subject from a different vantage point. Spurgeon's sermons provide just such a vantage point. They are at once timeless expositions of the truth of God's Word and timely exhortations for the church to give proper, biblical focus on the person of the Holy Spirit."--From the Foreword by Clay Kraby Table of Contents1.
