Experience a heart-pumping and thrilling tale of suspense! Originally published in THRILLER (2006), edited by #1 New York Times bestselling author James Patterson. New York Times bestselling writer Gayle Lynds has been called the “queen of the spy novel.” And for good reason. In this tense Thriller Short, Lynds’s character Liz Sansborough is put to the ultimate test, one that involves a character who goes by the rather ominous sobriquet of the Carnivore. This fascinating book relates all the excitement, mystery, danger, and adventure of living and traveling in Siberia. It all started back in 1991, when I received an invitation via the Gorbachev government, in conjunction with a mining company working with the Soviet Union, to visit, write about, photograph, and film what the country had to offer American tourists and hunters. This was the era of "Glasnost" and "Perestroika." Gorbachev wanted to bring in American tourists to bolster the sagging economy. That first expedition led to 22 years traveling back and forth to the former Soviet Union - now Russia - where I hung out with the KGB, met numerous dignitaries, and lived in tents and trappers' cabins in Siberia with the local natives. We were attacked by bears, wild boars, and moose! Among those traveling with me were Apollo Astronaut Jim McDivitt, who was stalked by a Russian bear, and a four-star air force general, Earl O'Loughlin, who used to fly spy plane missions over the former Soviet Union. This made for a very interesting confrontation with the KGB. During my time in Siberia, I got to know many of the native people, who relayed numerous sad and harrowing stories of encounters with giant bears. The book is jam-packed with historical perspective of what was happening at this time in Russia, including how the people lived, worked, survived, and what they thought of Americans. While framed by hunting, this book is as much about the people and the culture of Siberia. About the Author Now retired, Michigan native Denny Geurink was previously a teacher and the Midwest editor for Field & Stream magazine. He wrote a weekly newspaper outdoor column for nearly forty years. Publisher's website: http: //sbprabooks.com/DennyGeurink

In a private conversation on his deathbed, Rudolf Steiner informed his friend Count Polzer-Hoditz of three spiritual problems that would need to be resolved in the coming years: ‘Firstly, the question of the two Johns [John the Baptist and John the Evangelist]. Secondly: Who was Dmitri? Thirdly: Where did Caspar Hauser come from?’ Tackling these issues, said Steiner, would be of critical importance for humanity’s future. He added: ‘In all three problems it is important that one’s gaze is directed not towards death but towards birth. Where did they come from and with what tasks?’ In Dmitri’s case, Steiner emphasized that the most important thing was to discover what was to have been achieved through him. Utilizing the significant clues left by Rudolf Steiner, Sergei O. Prokofieff takes on the second of these tasks, the great unsolved mystery of Russian history. Tsarevich Dmitri, the son of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, was tragically murdered as a young boy. Later, he was impersonated by a series of rogues and pretenders. Prokofieff’s wide-ranging study integrates historical, psychological and spiritual-scientific perspectives to work towards the truth behind Dmitri’s brief life, his mission and the distortions created by the ‘false Dmitris’. He also examines the significance of Friedrich Schiller’s unfinished play, Demetrius.

After the settling of the War of Secession, the southern landscape remained marred by the scars of battling a lost cause. The soil infused with organic matter of the bodies of not only the dead soldiers, but men, women and children starved to death in the wake of total destruction at the hands of brethren, kinfolk. New blood from distant countries poured into the holes in their absence which allowed for a resurgence, a new birth. Lady Katarina Sikova Nilsson Movila embarked on an adventure to leave behind the the vestiges of her borrowed home in Louisiana's heartland, St. Augustine plantation. The culture laced in rituals and traditions hundreds of years in the making abandoned as she set out for a life away from the traps of titles and birthrights. A new surge being built upon determination and freedom buzzed about Lady Katarina. Yet quickly reminded of a woman's place in polite society, her dream squashed as it would require more than just a pretty face for Lady Katarina to become the person she was meant to be. US Marshall John McDaniel set off to retire his star and get back to the land in Texas his father secured in the 1830s for the future generations of the McDaniel clan. His inquisitive nature put him first on a path to becoming a lawyer delayed by entrance into the Union Army only to be sidelined even more when he took the oath of office under the tutelage of Judge Issac Parker in the court of Little Rock Arkansas. His best efforts to get back to Texas and to the ranch before his 35th birthday took another derailment in the embodiment of a five foot five cyclone with auburn hair and piercing green eyes hell bent on escaping the chains of conformity and destroying anyone who stood in her path. Or so Marshall McDaniel initially thought... In the dark fetid lowlands of Louisiana, they met at first impressed by one another's boldness which quickly became an intense and hurried infatuation. Bravado can come at a price. Can they overcome ingrained ways and embark on a path together, one that is the least expected for them both.
