Once the JEWEL of the English East India Company and the CROWN, the Victualling Station of the Fleets returning home from the EAST laden with spices and all manner of precious cargo, without which there would have been no British Empire, St. Helena is now the Cinderella of the British Government. Serviced by the RMS St. Helena, one of the last remaining Royal Mail Ships which calls there every three weeks, it is one of the most isolated places in the world. The island was uninhabited when discovered and is populated by decendents of British settlers sent there to 'protect the interests' of the Crown and 'service' the passing Fleets.Now, with the 'RMS' rapidly approaching its 'Sell By' date, the DfiD - Department for international Development of the British Government - have built an expensive modern Airport designed to thrust this small community into the modern world.The Airport is ready for Operation and the Official Opening was scheduled for St. Helena Day, 21. May 2016. Unfortunately, however, nobody at DfiD had the 'foresight' to check for 'Windshear' on this mountainous Island in the 'direct path' of the South Easterly Trade Winds. Consequently the run-way length 'is shortened' by 300 meters and it is impossble to 'extend' it by 'building out into' the Atlantic - which is about 4000 meters deep around there!Short of 'moving' the location of the Island, which is only 10 x 6miles, or 'stopping' the winds, it appears the Airport is destined to remain a 'White Elephant'.

The present study explored a highly influential exemplar of moral virtue and wisdom, Gretta Vosper, using a mixed-method person-centered case study analysis. Vosper is an Atheist Christian minister at West Hill United, a Christian church within the United Church of Canada. We interviewed her in 2017, during the time she was under review by the church to see if she was deemed fit to still be a minister as well as being outspokenly Atheist. A semi-structured interview, as well as scales such as the Three-Dimensional Wisdom Scale, were administered during a three-hour session. Analysis revealed that her own theory of wisdom and virtue cultivation is a four-step process: community, empathy, moral virtue development through interconnectedness, and lastly the development of wisdom. Commentary across all scales administered is also discussed in relation to her place as an exemplar of moral virtue and wisdom.
