THE JANUS PRINCIPLE offers solutions to the often vexing task of organizing a large organization (and even small firms) into an effective marketing engine to profitably sell into the small business marketplace. Addressing the rapidly expanding role of the Internet and other electronic gateways, the authors also demonstrate how to more effectively use traditional sales tools in an integrated marketing effort. The authors have distilled 20+ years of experience advising Fortune 100 corporations as well as researching the small business marketplace into a concept that large and small organizations can adopt and use. THE JANUS PRINCIPLE is an easily understood and implement approach that helps focus the selling organization (large and small) on those factors that breed success in this enormous, still growing market. THE JANUS PRINCIPLE takes its name from the Roman god of the portal or door that looks both outward and inward. The book lists specific things you need to do to successfully sell to small businesses, and describes how to utilize direct mail and online channels together to profitably sell over the Internet.

The Janus Point written by Julian Barbour and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-12-01 with Science categories.

In a universe filled by chaos and disorder, one physicist makes the radical argument that the growth of order drives the passage of time -- and shapes the destiny of the universe. Time is among the universe's greatest mysteries. Why, when most laws of physics allow for it to flow forward and backward, does it only go forward? Physicists have long appealed to the second law of thermodynamics, held to predict the increase of disorder in the universe, to explain this. In The Janus Point, physicist Julian Barbour argues that the second law has been misapplied and that the growth of order determines how we experience time. In his view, the big bang becomes the "Janus point," a moment of minimal order from which time could flow, and order increase, in two directions. The Janus Point has remarkable implications: while most physicists predict that the universe will become mired in disorder, Barbour sees the possibility that order -- the stuff of life -- can grow without bound. A major new work of physics, The Janus Point will transform our understanding of the nature of existence.

The Janus Faces Of Genius written by Betty Jo Teeter Dobbs and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

In this major re-evaluation of Isaac Newton's intellectual life, Betty Jo Teeter Dobbs shows how his pioneering work in mathematics, physics, and cosmology was intertwined with his study of alchemy. Directing attention to the religious ambience of the alchemical enterprise of early modern Europe, Dobbs argues that Newton understood alchemy - and the divine activity in micromatter to which it spoke - to be a much needed corrective to the overly mechanized system of Descartes. The same religious basis underlay the rest of his work. To Newton it seemed possible to obtain partial truths from many different approaches to knowledge, be it textual work aimed at the interpretation of prophecy, the study of ancient theology and philosophy, creative mathematics, or experiments with prisms, pendulums, vegetating minerals, light, or electricity. Newton's work was a constant attempt to bring these partial truths together, with the larger goal of restoring true natural philosophy and true religion.

Janus written by Arthur Koestler and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1978 with Philosophy categories.

Janus is both a summing up and continuation of Koestler's work over the past twenty-five years, since he turned from politics to the sciences of life- or more precisely, to the 'evolution, creativity and pathology of the human mind'. The insights gained on that long journey are here assembled in a coherent and comprehensive synthesis, and in the last part of the book, he offers us a tantalizing 'glance through the key-hole' from subatomic physics to metaphysics.

This work investigates the ‘Janus face’ of international relations, refracted through the prism of the duality of Jan Christian Smuts, as it manifested in his contribution to the League of Nations and his struggle against the emerging peace treaty. A predominant characteristic of international relations is its requirement to face two different ways at the same time - its Janus face. States profess their adherence to lofty ideals for humanity alongside the pursuit of their own immediate self-interest. This phenomenon in the behaviour of states has been referred to as the distance between vision and reality, and the gap between rhetoric and reality. International relations is, and is likely to remain, suspended between these two extremes: on the one hand, the pursuit of utopian ideals for the world, and, on the other, a defence of narrow self-interest, often prompted by the dictates of the realpolitik of the moment. How, then, are the values that underlie the founding of the first cornerstone of the current international order — the League of Nations — to be understood? An under-explored case study in understanding the complex framework of international relations is that of the visionary and controversial South African, Jan Christian Smuts (1870-1950). On the one hand, Smuts was one of the principal authors of the Covenant of the League of Nations, and the person directly responsible for the recognition of human rights as a founding value of the Charter of the United Nations. On the other, the Premier of racially segregated South Africa.
