This volume strives to examine the various psychological and social processes by which submissive behavior among East Asian females, in the presence of Caucasian males, that is, White Man, is secreted. The extent of Caucasian males' abilities to seduce, then bond and discipline, and thereafter create socially normative systems of interracial dominance over East Asian females, whom were often characterized as the most sexually desirable females of the human species, most differentiate White Man from all other male species. At any given time and place in human history, the most dominant race has always, whether it be through war and conquest, or directly through sheer superiority, in culture, technology, and biology, creates the many possibilities of interracial breeding, voluntarily or involuntarily. The humiliation and accompanied with it, rape and torture, of females of the inferior race, which has gone on as unpondered natural progression of human propensity, is the mere fulfillment of "Natural Order," in a religious sense of the word. Nevertheless, whatever the particular instance, there is a fundamental set of socio-pscyhological mechanisms through which this social force works to produce, on the one hand, submissive behavior from the females of inferior race, and, on the other hand, the exertion of dominance from the males of superior race. White Man's mechanism for domination came into existence through his genetical superiority and biological supremacy. His predestination to power lies in his genes, which makes it his categorical imperative that he should spread his genes through females of inferior race; and by inhibiting the sexual drive of her own in-group males and heightening the level of submissiveness and femininity of herself, the East Asian female triumphantly proclaims the right to mate with the most indomitably superior race of Man on earth. In cursory, expedient study of the various aspects of the socio-pyschology of the dominant-White-male-submissive-Asian-female relationship with respect to economies of scale, this collection of short stories is a celebration of the triumph of biology over ideology, of love over narrow-minded hatred, and, ultimately of the joy, of the pleasure, of the ecstasy of Asian sex slaves writhing in agony at the feet of White Masters.

Offering a variety of critical approaches to late eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Gothic literature, this collection provides a transnational view of the emergence and flowering of the Gothic. The essays expand on now well-known approaches to the Gothic (such as those that concentrate exclusively on race, gender, or nation) by focusing on international issues: religious traditions, social reform, economic and financial pitfalls, manifest destiny and expansion, changing concepts of nationhood, and destabilizing moments of empire-building. By examining a wide array of Gothic texts, including novels, drama, and poetry, the contributors present the Gothic not as a peripheral, marginal genre, but as a central mode of literary exchange in an ever-expanding global context. Thus the traditional conventions of the Gothic, such as those associated with Ann Radcliffe and Monk Lewis, are read alongside unexpected Gothic formulations and lesser-known Gothic authors and texts. These include Mary Rowlandson and Bram Stoker, Frances and Anthony Trollope, Louisa May Alcott, Elizabeth Gaskell, Theodore Dreiser, Rudyard Kipling, and Lafcadio Hearn, as well as the actors Edmund Kean and George Frederick Cooke. The Spanish colonization of the Philippines that began in 1565 has long been seen as heralding a new era of globalization, drawing together a multiethnic world of merchants, soldiers, sailors, and missionaries. Colonists sent reports back to Madrid boasting of the extraordinary number of souls converted to Christianity and the number of people paying tribute to the Spanish Crown. Such claims constructed an imagined imperial sovereignty and were not accompanied by effective consolidation of colonial control in many of the regions where conversion and tribute collection were imposed. The study of slavery and coerced labour is increasingly conducted from a global perspective, and yet a dual Eurocentric bias remains: slavery primarily brings to mind the images of Atlantic chattel slavery, and most studies continue to be based – either outright or implicitly – on a model of northern European wage labour. This book constitutes an attempt to re-centre that story to Asia. With studies spanning the western Indian Ocean and the steppes of Central Asia to the islands of South East Asia and Japan, and ranging from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, this book tracks coercion in diverse forms, tracing both similarities and differences – as well as connections – between systems of coercion, from early sales regulations to post-abolition labour contracts. Deep empirical case studies, as well as comparisons between the chapters, all show that while coercion was entrenched in a number of societies, it was so in different and shifting ways. This book thus not only shows the history of slavery and coercion in Asia as a connected story, but also lays the groundwork for global studies of a phenomenon as varying, manifold and contested as coercion.
