The Small Faces & Other Stories is a trip back in time, charting the rise and fall of one of the Sixties most energetic and successful bands. It is the extraordinary story of how this bold four-piece, led by mercurial cockney Steve Marriot, found fame and then splintered by the end of the decade to evolve into Humble Pie with Peter Frampton, and the Faces fronted by Rod Stewart. Along the way their trademark songs Itchycoo Park, All or Nothing, Stay With Me and Baby I Love Your Way would influence future generations of musicians such as Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene and Blur. By way of anecdote, interview and analysis, Uli Twelker and Roland Schmitt lift the lid on the bands’ complex histories and the explosive characters involved that built one of rock music’s most enduring and successful family trees.

This book details the story of a young man, a fictional character, Clem Barnett, during the late 1940's and 1950's, raised as a boy in the mid-west with dreams and visions, based on romantic books and movies, of being a cowboy in the West. He finds himself venturing far from his home in northeastern Oklahoma to hire-out on two very different ranches; first, one in Montana and later, one in Idaho. There, he learns about ranching, the cattle business, and most importantly, about life. He also learns what the modern, for the time period, cowboy is and how it differs greatly from his romantic vision. He faces many adventures and interacts with a host of colorful characters in search of his dreams. Because the story occurs in the early 1950's, the young man is faced with the horrors of participating in the Korean War, and more importantly, facing the emotional effects thereafter. Unlikely characters assist in his recovery and he gains respect and love for the people of the Basque culture who helped him. The story ends with a simple love story and a realization that dreams can be elusive. In the end, he finds peace and happiness and seems to come close to living the life of the romantic cowboy he envisioned. Others see in him a person who so loves the life of a cowboy and confers upon him the title of the last romantic, real life, American Cowboy.

It's Friday night and hardworking cowboys and ranchers from all around Ft. Worth come to The Lone Star for a cold brew and someone warm to dance with. Lucky for them, one table is always reserved for Bailey Rose and her friends who come there to unwind and maybe to get wound up by a good-looking guy with a big smile and bigger rodeo buckle. Lookin’ Good I wish I had never told Travis my deepest, darkest secret—that I like to watch. I should have known he would want to give me my heart’s desire. I love him more than anything, but I hate him for using my weakness to try to win me back. Moreover, I hate myself for not being able to turn down the gifts he brings me. Bailey Rose Hung Up I should have told Colton what he could do with his money, but I need it to keep the doors of my dance studio open. So, here I am, naked and bound, with a bull rope around my waist, and despite the intricate suspension system holding me up, I’m falling hard. Falling for the impossible man who threw me for a loop and lassoed my heart. Beth Rockin’ O I can’t imagine not marrying Brendan, but I can’t bring this discontent into our marriage either. My friend, Beth, is right. I have to talk to my fiancé, but how do you tell a man who does everything right in the bedroom that you need more—that you need him to spank you? ~ April Barbed Wire Just looking at me, no one would ever guess my secret. I keep it to myself, my silent, lonely longing for more than I think I’ll ever find. That doesn’t keep me from dreaming though, that’s why I come to The Lone Star every time Barbed Wire plays here. The real-life cowboys turned musicians star in my wildest fantasies. I long to be wrapped up in them. All of them. Penny Saddle Up My life as a lawyer leaves little time for a personal life. I divide what time I have between two places, the ranch where I board my horse, Pollack, and the Lone Star Honky-Tonk because I can ogle Troy Campbell both places. Troy is a well-respected horse trainer, and I won’t lie, I’d let him train me anytime, anywhere. ~ Caroline

One With Bird written by Douglas K German and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-11-09 with Fiction categories.

It is 1938 out on a farm three hundred miles west of Omaha as Ruby puts her love for her husband, Aksel, on the line to stand with their son, Carsten, who Aksel has rejected as a sissy. Then three barefoot urchins lulling away a 1950s summer day down by the railroad tracks get caught up with a sex predator in a most unusual and humorous way. Over ensuing years, Douglas Germans stories move from the town cop, Biggie Budd, who shares his wisdom with twelve-year-old Frank Viig, who is devastated by the drunkenness of the wealthy father he adores, to 2017 where Calhoun, a neo-Nazi, is holed up in the hills. Along the way, Maria, a peasant living in a mud hut high in the Colombian Andes Mountains, humbles a lawyer from a blue-stocking firm in Omaha, and a young man ponders a poignant childhood memory of the day his father showed him how to respect Walkie Talkie, a survivor of the Bataan Death March. One with Bird shares seven unique stories that provide a glimpse into the humor, tragedies, and unique events that accompany living out on the Nebraska prairie. In 2017 the author was awarded recognition by Glimmer Train Press for South of 18, one of the seven stories.
