Everyone in the world wants to be happy. Right? Now what if I found the easy way to happiness and passed it on. Wouldn’t that be a classic contribution to mankind? Well, I did find it and anyone can do it. The three essentials for progress in life are good health, someone who loves you and a potful of money. Those I can’t guarantee but my exclusive, unique way to happiness has been proven by me over the years and I have seen others do the same. A crackpot, you say. Perhaps, but it worked. Ready. You clone yourself. Definitely a crackpot, you say. No, listen. I became a great admirer of actress Agnes Moorehead. I earned my way into her good graces and besides living my own active life, responded to all her victories, defeats, temperaments, exultations, happiness, depression, all the human emotions

We have heard of people cursing and casting spells in fits of anger or distress. But do these utterings really come to pass? And what would you call the song that prompts over 200 people to commit suicide? Jinxed or merely a coincidence? Legends and out of this world incidents have proved that such unnerving and bone-chilling phenomena do exist in this very scientifically evolved world of ours, whether we like it or not, whether we believe it or not! This book is a compilation of some of the incredibly creepy stories that have surfaced over the centuries. Tutankhamun's curse, Rasputin's utterings and stories of jinxed ships are twisted, enjoyable fast reads that will engross you from the first to the last page and leave you asking for more.

Arabs have traditionally considered classical Arabic poetry, together with the Qur'an, as one of their supreme cultural accomplishments. Taking a comparatist approach, Jaroslav Stetkevych attempts in this book to integrate the classical Arabic lyric into an enlarged understanding of lyric poetry as a genre. Stetkevych concentrates on the "places of lost bliss" that furnish the dominant motif in the lyric-elegiac opening section (nasib) of the classic Arab code, or qusidah. In defining the Arabic lyrical genre, he shows how pre-Islamic lamentations over abandoned campsites evolved, in Arabo-Islamic mystical poetry, into expressions of spiritual nostalgia. Stetkevych also draws intriguing parallels between the highlands of Najd in Arabic poetry and Arcadia in the European tradition. He concludes by exploring the degree to which the pastoral-paradisiacal archetype of the nasib pervades Arabic literary perception, from the pre-Islamic ode through the Thousand and One Nights and later texts. Enhanced by Stetkevych's sensitive translations of all the Arabic texts discussed, The Zephyrs of Najd brings the classical Arabic ode fully into the purview of contemporary literary and critical discourse.
