The Allegory of the Cave, or Plato's Cave, was presented by the Greek philosopher Plato in his work Republic (514a–520a) to compare "the effect of education (παιδεία) and the lack of it on our nature". It is written as a dialogue between Plato's brother Glaucon and his mentor Socrates, narrated by the latter. The allegory is presented after the analogy of the sun (508b–509c) and the analogy of the divided line (509d–511e). All three are characterized in relation to dialectic at the end of Books VII and VIII (531d–534e). Plato has Socrates describe a group of people who have lived chained to the wall of a cave all of their lives, facing a blank wall. The people watch shadows projected on the wall from objects passing in front of a fire behind them, and give names to these shadows. The shadows are the prisoners' reality.

The Nag Hammadi Story is not a history of research in the usual sense of a Forschungsbericht, which would report on the massive amount of scholarship that has been devoted to the content of the Nag Hammadi Codices for more than a half-century. Rather it is a socio-historical narration of just what went on during the thirty-two years from their discovery late in 1945, via their initial trafficking, and then the attempts to monopolize them, until finally, through the intervention of UNESCO, the whole collection of thirteen Codices was published in facsimiles and in English translation, both completed late in 1977.

First published in 1906, Geronimo's Story of His Life is the collaborative work between GERONIMO (1829-1909), chief of the Chiricahua Apache, and American writer STEPHEN MELVIL BARRETT (b. 1865). Barrett produced the book with special permission from President Roosevelt, under the provision that the War Department would check it for accuracy before publication. Geronimo told the story of his life, truly, in his own way. According to Barrett, Geronimo would recount a story from his life in whatever way he chose on any given day. Sometimes that would be in his tepee. Sometimes they would be on horseback. And not once would the chief allow himself to be interrupted or questioned during his telling. Anyone interested in history or Native Americans will find this firsthand account of the life of one of the most renowned figures in history a thrilling and sobering tale, offering excellent insight into the Apache military and spiritual leader who led a 25-year war of resistance against the government of the United States.

CONQUERED HEART In protecting the King of Scotland, Graeme Cameron will do whatever it takes to ensure Robert the Bruce’s safety. Kerrigan Campbell is desperate to find her laird and protector’s son. Graeme has challenges before him–how to keep himself and his comrades from being executed for doing their duty, aiding the sweet lass in recovering her charge, finding the bairn’s mother, helping their king defeat England’s army, and gaining a pardon for their involvement in the king’s misdoings. There’s one challenge that thwarts him though and that’s Kerrigan. She might conquer his heart and more… UNBREAKABLE HEART Liam of Clan Kincaid is sent in service for what his uncle considers betrayal. Their agreement leads them on a dangerous mission, one of which might be the end of them both. Liam finds himself in a quandary because Makenna is not the forthright lass he deems her to be. But there’s one wee problem with this mission, and that is, the undeniable feelings she has for the blue-eyed Highland warrior. Their undeniable hearts cannot withstand the love that has joined them forevermore, but will it remedy the strife between them?
