The neglected actual first part of the Robin Hood series. Both in terms of its plot and date of first-publication and performance, Look Around You is the first part of a trilogy that was followed by the two famous Robin Hood plays, Downfall of Robert and Death of Robert Earl of Huntington. The latter two are tragedies that have been previously falsely attributed to “Anthony Monday”, while Look is a comedy that has remained unattributed since its anonymous release. Censors might have neglected to connect Look to the others because in it, Robin Hood (Earl of Huntington) spends most of the play cross-dressing as Lady Faukenbridge, and being wooed on a balcony by Prince Richard. Meanwhile, Skink wears a myriad of disguises to escape Old King Henry’s wrath over the Queen hiring Skink to assassinate the King’s lover, Rosamund. And Young King Henry has been given the throne by his father, Old King, after several military battles between them. One of the main passions for Young King during his reign is his attempts to see the “fantastical” Earl of Gloucester executed for speaking too freely at Court. Lady Faukenbridge, Robin Hood and their supporters scheme to free Gloucester, and then to aid his life-on-the-run, while the other side schemes to re-capture and execute Gloucester. These schemes force several of the otherwise virtuous characters to take on fraudulent disguises and to succumb to highway robbery to support themselves while on the run from the law. The comedy is enhanced with the absurd constant running in the wrong directions by Redcap, whose ridiculous stuttering is imitated by other characters who take on his red cap as a disguise. This stuttering subversively restates that the attempts to execute Gloucester for speaking the truth are barbaric; hinting that such policies can cause all subjects of a kingdom to stutter instead of directly expressing their ideas. An excerpt from “Raphael Holinshed’s” Chronicles that covers the history of Henry II is included with an explanation of how it was adapted in Look. “Editions of Look are rare and obscure — I’d never heard of the play until this volume came along. The text is… modernized, with… improved stage directions and prefixes, plus on-the-page glosses. And a section of Holinshed’s Chronicles that has… relevance… to this play.” —LibraryThing, Early Reviewers, Robert B. Waltz, Editor of Minnesota Heritage Songbook Exordium Plot and Staging Segments About Henry II from “Raphael Holinshed’s” The Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland Text Terms, References, Questions, Exercises

Twenty-five years ago renowned Tibetan Buddhist meditation master Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche introduced teachings of the Shambhala warrior tradition-teachings that show how we could live as enlightened citizens and help create an advanced society based on fearlessness and non-aggression. Now Awake Mind, Open Heart makes these teachings accessible to the widest possible audience. Author Cynthia Kneen, who has conducted Shambhala Training workshops for more than twenty years, shows us how to develop personal power through direct, genuine experience and how to cultivate natural bravery, authenticity, and gentleness. Directed especially to readers new to Shambhala Buddhism, she also teaches how to develop genuine dignity by connecting to the strength and wisdom of the world as it is, and how to transform fear into fearlessness. This is an invaluable introduction to these ancient Tibetan teachings.

Philosophical Grammar written by Ludwig Wittgenstein and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991-01-08 with Philosophy categories.

Wittgenstein wrote the Philosophical Grammar during the years 1931 to 1934 - the period just before he began to dictate the Blue Book. Although it is close to the Investigations in some points, and to the Phiosophische Bemerkungen at others, the Philosophical Grammar is an independent work which covers new ground. It is Wittgenstein's fullest treatment of logic and mathematics in their connection with his later understanding of 'proposition', 'sign', and 'system'. He also discusses inference and generality - critisizing views of Frege and Russell as well as earlier views of his own - and the treatment of mathematical proof in this book, especially of inductive or recursive proofs, is deeper and more extensive than previously.

In Too Bold for the Box Office, Cynthia J. Miller has assembled essays by scholars and filmmakers who examine the unique cinematic form of mockumentary. Individually, each of these essays looks at a given instance of mockumentary parody and subversion, examining the ways in which each calls into question our assumptions, pleasures, beliefs, and even our senses. Writing about national film, television, and new media traditions as diverse as their backgrounds, this volume's contributors explore and theorize the workings of mockumentaries, as well as the strategies and motivations of the writers and filmmakers who brought them into being.

The Symbol Of No Escape written by Tanya Robinson and has been published by Partridge Africa this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-24 with Fiction categories.

South Africa needs no introduction to the global narratives of violence and crimes against women and children. With reported sexual offences exceeding 60000 and incidents of murder totalling 17805 for the 2014/2015 period, our countrys notoriety in this arena contributes to the landscape within which The Symbol of No Escape plays out. As forensic thriller The Symbol of No Escape is an emergent property of qualities that not too many authors are able to harness. These include Dr Tanya Robinsons practical experience and extensive work with the abused child, her knowledge in forensic psychopathology and her laudable scholarly credentials that underpins each page with legitimacy whilst powerfully infusing the characters of protagonist Dr Claire and villain Dann Carmen. The reader is systematically drawn in and absorbed in the lifeworld of Dr Claire, a profiler and expert assessor who is tasked to create a profile that would help close the case against depraved child serial murderer and family killer, Dann Carmen. His crimes are brutal and bizarre, yet Dr Claires assertion that Dann instils no fear in me paves the way for explicating her goal which is to establish what contributed to him becoming a monster (Marcel Van der Watt, University of South Africa, Department of Police Practice).
