If these walls could talk... The Christmas Stable is the telling of the nativity story through the perspective of the stable. The stable feels badly about himself because he is in such disrepair: leaky roof, dirty floor, broken wooden beams. WHILE bemoaning his need of a total rehab, his soliloquy is interrupted by the sight of a road-weary couple in dire need of a place to spend the night. When he notices that the wife is with child and in labor he eagerly offers them lodging as he exclaims, "there's a place within me!" The tattered old stable is transformed by the "baby of light" as Christ is born in him. Awe-struck, he is overwhelmed by the heavenly signs of the Messiah's arrival and humbled that even in his condition, he would have the honor of hosting the savior of the world. The stable realizes that he will never be the same as he gives his side of the story and shares with young and old the true meaning of Christmas. With vibrant illustrations and tight rhyming meter, the Stable moves from the background of history and comes to life as a main character in the nativity account.
