This is the only known biography of the Christian poetess Annie Johnson Flint, who died in 1932, and was first published in 1948 by the Evangelical Press, and is now in the public domain. The story is told by Roland V. Bingham [1872-1942] who was the founder of the Sudan Interior Mission (now the Serving in Mission (SIM)) and knew Annie personally. This account of her life, as well as telling her remarkable triumph over severe physical adversity, also records the only known 'autobiography' of hers, together with a selection of her poetry, a great deal of which has been out of print for decades.This book is a good companion to "He Giveth More Grace" - One Hundred Poems of Annie Johnson Flint, which includes a fitting foreword by another of her contemporaries, and contains most of her poems, all of which are now in the public domain.

Sexual selection, or the struggle for mates, was of considerable strategic importance to Darwin s theory of evolution as he first outlined it in the "Origin of Species," and later, in the "Descent of Man," it took on a much wider role. There, Darwin s exhaustive elaboration of sexual selection throughout the animal kingdom was directed to substantiating his view that human racial and sexual differences, not just physical differences but certain mental and moral differences, had evolved primarily through the action of sexual selection. According to Yeats, his wife surprised him on 24 October 1917, four days after their marriage, "by attempting automatic writing." Excited, he offered to spend the remainder of his life organizing and explaining the "scattered sentences." Over a period of approximately 30 months they collaborated in 450 sittings, he asking questions, she responding to fill a total of more than 3,600 pages. Quoting copiously from the Script, Harper has traced in two volumes these incredible experiments day by day as the Yeatses moved about England, Ireland, and America. He has also cited hundreds of parallel explanatory passages from many workbooks, notebooks, and the concordance arranged like a card index in which Yeats codified the System he projected in A Vision and numerous poems and plays. Harper also has examined the extensive personal revelations that were excluded from A Vision and carefully concealed in many passages of "personal Script." As Professor Harper demonstrates, Yeats had these often oblique, highly allusive passages in mind when he admitted "To Vestigia" that he had "not even dealt with the whole of my subject, perhaps not even with what is most important, writing nothing about the Beatific Vision, little of sexual love."
