How that one golf ball found its way into Hawaii resident Chris Pablo's basket at the driving range, God only knows. Weeks after being diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, Chris saw an older, scuffed up ball in his basket. He plucked it out, turned it over and saw the words beat leukemia stamped on the side. Despite great odds against finding an unrelated bone marrow donor to help cure his blood cancer, a match was found in a man who was a double amputee. #13; The golf ball discovery and tsunami of media coverage set into motion a series of other miracles as heartwarming as the Hawaiian sun. The family of two-year-old leukemia patient Alana Dung asked for similar coverage to drive people to their daughter's bone marrow registration drives. The chance of matching any one person and going to transplant is about one in 200. Of the 30,000 who came out to help Alana, more than 86 went to transplant.#13; In the center of those matches is the compelling story of the author, Kevin Walsh. As a young news anchor and reporter Kevin covered the stories of Chris Pablo and Alana Dung from the beginning for Honolulu's KGMB-TV. Kevin registered as a potential donor on the final day of Alana's drive. Four years later he got the call that he was the only match in the world for a 16-year-old boy with leukemia whom he'd never met. The storyteller became a major part of the storyline, having his marrow sucked out of his bones in the attempt to save a life.#13; The Marrow in Me tells the full story of what's involved in one of the most interesting, but often misunderstood life saving missions. Does it hurt? And would I have the guts to do it? The Marrow in Me answers all the relevantquestions.#13; The Marrow in Me ends with the author returning to his one time island home to run in the Honolulu Marathon with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training to honor the boy who received his marrow and other selected honorees. Kevin's homecoming includes an emotional reunion with Chris Pablo, the man who helped start The Marrow in Me journey. Chris gave Kevin a dozen golf balls with the words beat leukemia stamped on the side, and instructions to lose them. The balls are now scattered across America. One day someone like Chris Pablo will find one, sparking new stories of inspiration and miracles like The Marrow in Me. #13; #13;

Marrow Me written by Joshua Roberts and has been published by Bitingduck Press LLC this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-01 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Marrow Me is written with stark beauty and unflinching candor, filled with equal parts grace and horror as a writer at the height of his powers — even while pharmaceutically challenged — shines a light on this increasingly common human condition. Multiple myeloma, a cancer of the blood’s plasma cells, afflicted 488,200 people during 2015 alone; who among us has not been touched in some way by cancer? The course of the disease is brutal, but what sets this memoir apart is Roberts’ ability to slice through the brutality with humor and self-effacement, leaving us with an illness memoir utterly devoid of self-pity that evokes both the 1922 silent film Nosferatu and, at the same time, the humor of The Simpsons. Multiple myeloma’s survival rate is sufficiently low that a diagnosis is typically considered a death sentence. Because Joshua managed to live for twelve years post-diagnosis, he liked to say that for him, it was more like a death paragraph. This book will educate and touch anyone affected by cancer, from physicians to survivors to family members.

The Marrow Of Certainty written by Chun Tse and has been published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-06-12 with Religion categories.

Assurance was a central issue for the eminent Scottish theologian-pastor Thomas Boston long before it emerged as a focal point of the theological debate in the Marrow Controversy. In The Marrow of Certainty, Chun Tse presents the first full-length study of Boston's theology of assurance in six dimensions: trinitarian, covenantal, Christological, soteriological, ecclesiastical, and sacramental. This work not only furnishes the first-ever intellectual biography of Boston in his Scottish context and controversies, but it also cross-studies the theology of the Marrow of Modern Divinity with Boston's notes. This research argues that Boston's doctrine of assurance centres on union and communion with Christ, the architectonic principle of his theology. The book challenges the common conception that Boston's theology merely follows Calvin, the Scots Confession, the Marrow, the Westminster Standards, and Scottish federalism. Boston, most strikingly, holds in tension assurance as intrinsic to faith—itself a gift from God's sovereignty in election—while insisting on self-examination as a human responsibility. This salient mark of his doctrine of assurance originates from his assertion that Christ died for the elect alone but all—elect or not—have the warrant to receive Christ. As such, assurance is, theologically, a divine gift and, pastorally, a human endeavour. Certainty is thus both extra nos and intra nos. Boston, this study reveals, has a potent and enduring power to speak on the perennial issue of assurance, rooted in the person of Christ, whom he considers as being the covenant itself.
