This book analyzes for the first time in English the ethical theory that underpins Quranic legislation by providing a classification of specific verses in which Islam's holy book discusses moral issues. It demonstrates the ways in which the Quran theoretically and practically provides the moral code to which Muslims around the world adhere. The author divides his analysis into a survey of Quranic attitudes towards the basic ethical issues of obligation and responsibility, issues of moral psychology such as motivation and intention, as well as matters of social ethics such as the function of law in society. He then explores the meanings of individual morality, morality within the family and civil society, and the relationship of morality to the idea of the state.

Guidance For Mankind From The Qur An written by and has been published by Notion Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-29 with categories.

Guidance for Mankind from the Qur'an draws the attention of Muslims to the Qur'an by methodically teaching them the practical meaning of the Qur'an, as well as the five basic obligations we owe to the Qur'an. The practical purposes of the Qur'an are primarily to improve our spiritual awareness and to enhance our conduct and behaviour in society. The Qur'an is by far the most widely read book in the world, but it is also the most misunderstood book, which creates such a dichotomy forcing this author as a Muslim to offer a simple explanation that will hopefully clarify some obscure points. This book is primarily for those searching spiritual roots from authentic sources of the Qur'an with the intention of awakening and improving his or her spiritual awareness. As such, it is an opportunity to critically observe ourselves without ego, to identify our defects and correct them with the teachings of the Qur'an.

The Heart Of The Qur An written by Lex Hixon and has been published by Quest Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-12-04 with Religion categories.

"Neither as Christians or Jews, nor simply as intellectually responsible individuals," says Hixon, "have members of Western civilization been sensitively educated or even accurately informed about Islam." As tensions between America and the Middle East grow, we should promote cross-cultural understanding, not violence. This new edition, with a new foreword and commentary by Neil Douglas-Klotz, allows the reader to drink from the illuminating fountain of the Holy Qur’an—the foundation of Islamic culture. First published in 1988, Hixon’s poetic meditations on over nine-hundred passages from the Qur’an show that they are not relics from the past but exist in a timeless present, communicating as vividly as when they were first uttered. Through clear and accessible language, Hixon illustrates how the teachings of Islam can be applied to contemporary everyday life issues such as love, relationships, justice, work, and self-knowledge. In addition to the selections themselves, the book contains readable, lively introductions to the tradition of Islam, its basic precepts, and what it says about other religions. As the first such work in English to be written by a Muslim, The Heart of the Qur’an continues to show that Islam is among the great wisdom traditions of humanity.
