Higher Excited States of Polyatomic Molecules, Volume I focuses on the spectra in the vacuum-ultraviolet region between 50,000 and 100,000 cm-1. This book explores the higher excitations in molecules beyond 50,000 cm-1. Organized into three chapters, this volume starts with an overview of the excited-state properties of a molecule and the excited-state ionization potential. This book then proceeds with a discussion of the original classification of the properties as well as the types of excitations observed in the vacuum-ultraviolet. Other chapters discuss photoelectron spectroscopy, which is an independent, self-sustaining branch of molecular spectroscopy. This text examines as well the distinction between valence shell and Rydberg excitations. The final chapter deals with several topics, including the saturated molecules that are classified as having all valence electrons, the alkene absorption spectra, and the spectroscopic data on boron compounds. Analytical chemists, photochemists, molecular spectroscopists, and researchers will find this book extremely useful.

Introduction To Environmental Mineralogy written by Anhuai Lu and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-05-22 with Science categories.

This book focuses on the environmental property of minerals including mineralogical record of environmental changes, mineralogical influence on the environmental quality, mineralogical evaluation of the environment, mineralogical processing of environmental pollutants and interaction between minerals and microbes. Understanding of the environmental property of minerals is a good supplement to the traditional concept of “mineral”. By demonstrating plenty of case studies with easy-to-understand figures and tables, this book introduces the environmental effects of interaction between minerals and microbes, physiological and ecological effects of biomineralization, reductive precipitation property of iron sulfide minerals, photocatalytic reduction property of sphalerite, photocatalytic oxidation property of rutile, tubular structure property of chrysotile, tunnel structure property of K-feldspar tetrahedron, tunnel structure property of cryptomelane octahedron, nano property of cryptomelane, crystallization property of jarosite, interaction between semiconducting minerals and microbes, pathological mineralization of human body, mineralogical processing of inorganic pollutants, mineralogical degradation of organic pollutants, mineralogical purification of smoke-type pollutants, mineralogical evaluation of soil environmental quality, mineralogical prevention and control of waste pollutants and mineralogical processing of mine tailings. The book is written for environmental mineralogist as well as postgraduates majoring in environmental science.

Salts Of Amino Acids written by Michel Fleck and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-07-08 with Medical categories.

Over the last decades, amino acids have been found to be of importance in many fields of science. Apart from their biological function, this family of organic compounds has been employed in the synthesis of a vast variety of salts, with impact on areas such as materials science, pharmaceutical or physical research. This covers a wide range, from the discovery of important ferroelectrics or non-linear optical materials to nutrients, flavor enhancers or drugs. This book describes amino acids and their salts with cations, anions and inorganic compounds from a chemical, physical and crystallographical point of view. Additional data on structural properties, crystal growth and the relation of structure and physical properties of amino acid salts is discussed.

Crystals are sometimes called 'Flowers of the Mineral Kingdom'. In addition to their great beauty, crystals and other textured materials are enormously useful in electronics, optics, acoustics, and many other engineering applications. This book describes the underlying principles of crystal physics and chemistry, covering a wide range of topics, and illustrating numerous applications in many fields of engineering using the most important materials. It has been written at a level suitable for science and engineering students and can be used for teaching a one- or two-semester course. Tensors, matrices, symmetry and structure-property relationships form the main subjects of the book. Whilst tensors and matrices provide the mathematical framework for understanding anisotropy, on which the physical and chemical properties of crystals and textured materials often depend, atomistic arguments are also needed to quantify the property coefficients in various directions. The atomistic arguments are partly based on symmetry and partly on the basic physics and chemistry of materials. After introducing the point groups appropriate for single crystals, textured materials and ordered magnetic structures, the directional properties of many different materials are described: linear and nonlinear elasticity, piezoelectricity and electrostriction, magnetic phenomena, diffusion and other transport properties, and both primary and secondary ferroic behaviour. With crystal optics (its roots in classical mineralogy) having become an important component of the information age, nonlinear optics is described along with the piezo-optics, magneto-optics and electro-optics, and analogous linear and nonlinear acoustic wave phenomena. Enantiomorphism, optical activity, and chemical anisotropy are discussed in the final chapters of the book.
