Any reader who will place himself for a moment at the author's point of view will perceive the reasons why it has been excluded. The principal reason is that there was no room for it; and, that being so, perhaps the other reasons do not matter. When one is telling a story, criticism is apt to get in the way and the more interesting the story the more is the intrusion of criticism likely to be resented.
