The tenets of the Pentagon of Faith have been developed over a lifetime of observation and study. Through the combination of classroom training and spiritual journeys in Europe from England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Scandinavia to the Middle East from Israel to Jordan; Dr. Hayes has a unique outlook on how Christians express their devotion to God through worship. He discovered that the liturgical worship services of today have their roots in the Shabbat where he gathers with his Messianic Jewish wife (Cynthia Bush) to celebrate the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at Beth Israel Temple in Florence, S.C. Dr. Hayes grew up in the Southern Baptist denomination where evangelical worship abounded but gravitated to the more traditional expression of worship through centuries-old liturgical traditions which have their beginnings in first century Judea, Samaria, and Galilee. Were they still here, C.S. Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Martin Luther, and Francis Schaeffer would all enjoy the truths and evaluations in this book. Flesh versus Spirit, Good versus Evil, Sacred Theism versus Secular Humanism, the Hebrews call it Tob and Ra. The Pentagon of Faith examines our historic faith and helps us understand and navigate the unexpected twists and turns of our lives when we take a cue from the faith of our fathers. Their faith in God and His Son Jesus Christ shows us that eternal life is worth living the traditional faith of our fathers."One of the best books I have ever read. Several books have been published about Vice President Mike Pence, but none have touched upon what may be the most fascinating aspect of our nation’s second in command: his deep faith. The Faith of Mike Pence offers an intimate look at the man who calls himself “a Christian, a conservative, and a Republican, in that order.” Author Leslie Montgomery details Pence’s spiritual journey and examines how the vice president’s commitment to Christ has been a key component in his life as a husband, father, and public servant. Montgomery examines Pence’s encounters with politicos and evangelistic leaders such as James Dobson and Charles Lake. She shows the role of Pence’s faith in running for various offices, implementing faith-based initiatives, and responding to 9/11, the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the infamous Anthrax scare in Congress that directly affected him. The Faith of Mike Pence is a powerful account of one of the most conservative vice presidents in American history, with exclusive interviews and insightful commentary from friends, family, and colleagues. It is a serious and moving reflection about one of America’s most admired and respected politicians.

The great Christian thinker and author C. S. Lewis said that often it is not teaching that we require; occasionally what we need is a reminder of what we already know. In this collection of meditations, my son, Nathanael, and I hope to remind you of what you already know—that we belong to a God that seeks a relationship with us. God is not content with our admiration. God desires a relationship in which we are eager to know more and to experience more of God’s power, love, and strength for the challenges that we must confront each day. Intentional time each day engaging God’s word in the Bible provides fresh inspiration and increases our desire to reach the next concentric circle in our relationship with God.

The Pentagon S Battle For The American Mind written by Lori L. Bogle and has been published by Texas A&M University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-10-12 with History categories.

The U.S. military has historically believed itself to be the institution best suited to develop the character, spiritual values, and patriotism of American youth. In Strategy for Survival, Lori Bogle investigates how the armed forces assigned itself the role of guardian and interpreter of national values and why it sought to create “ideologically sound Americans capable of defeating communism and assuring the victory of democracy at home and abroad.” Bogle shows that a tendency by some in the armed forces to diffuse their view of America’s civil religion among the general population predated tension with the Soviet Union. Bogle traces this trend from the Progressive Era though the early Cold War, when the Truman and Eisenhower administrations took seriously the battle of ideologies of that era and formulated plans that promised not only to meet the armed forces’ manpower needs but also to prepare the American public morally and spiritually for confrontation with the evils of communism. Both Truman’s plan for Universal Military Training and Eisenhower’s psychological warfare programs promoted an evangelical democracy and sought to inculcate a secular civil-military religion in the general public. During the early 1960s, joint military-civilian anticommunist conferences, organized by the authority of the Department of Defense, were exploited by ultra-conservative civilians advancing their own political and religious agendas. Bogle’s analysis suggests that cooperation among evangelicals, the military, and government was considered both necessary and normal. The Boy Scouts pushed a narrow vision of American democracy, and Joe McCarthy’s chauvinism was less an aberration than a particularly noxious manifestation of a widespread attitude. To combat communism, American society and its armed forces embraced brainwashing—narrow moral education that attacked everyone and everything not consonant with their view of the world and how it ought to be ordered. Exposure of this alliance ultimately dissolved it. However, the cult of toughness and the blinkered view of reality that characterized the armed forces and American society during the Cold War are still valued by many, and are thus still worthy of consideration.

The American invasion of Iraq was largely governed by faith-based policy. The "shock and Awe" strategy, alongside a grossly mismanaged occupation, led to the loss of American lives. Faith-Based War presents an analysis of the imperialist Christian militarism behind the Bush Administration. America’s self-perception as God’s Chosen is examined and its catastrophic results detailed. The book offers an ethical, political and theological perspective on the perversion of Christian teaching behind the war in Iraq and the moral culpability of the American empire.
