From the cross Jesus gave us his mother to be our mother, too: a singularly holy model, consoler, and intercessor for our spiritual journey. Yet most Protestants, and too many Catholics don't understand the role that God wants her to play in our lives. In Behold Your Mother, Tim Staples takes you through the Church's teachings about the Blessed Virgin Mary, showing their firm Scriptural and historical roots and dismantling the objections of those who mistakenly believe that Mary competes for the attention due Christ alone. Combining the best recent scholarship with a convert's in-depth knowledge of the arguments, Staples has assembled the most thorough and useful Marian apologetic you'll find anywhere. Relevant and essential -- Mary matters. Read Behold Your Mother and find out just how much.

St. Jerome (347 - 420) wrote this work against Helvidius, who stated that because gospels spoke of Christ having "sisters" and "brethren," then clearly the Virgin Mary must have had further children from Joseph, her husband. He supported this view from the writings of Tertullian (d. 220) and others. The issue was a contentious one in the early church and a number of councils were held in Asia Minor to establish the role of Mary in the divine economy of Christ. It is believed that Helvidius wrote his statements about the year 383 AD. Jerome gives a very scripture-based defense of the church teaching of his time, in Latin, insisting that Mary remained chaste before and after the birth of Christ. Interesting in its own right, this essay also gives a remarkable insight into debates of the early church. The source text used here is: A select library of Nicene and post-Nicene fathers of the Christian Church / Second series. Vol. 6, Letters. (Select works) / Jerome, Oxford: Parker. 1893. St. Jerome (d. 420); Henry Wace (1836-1924); Philip Schaff (1819-1893). The text has been enlarged to make it easier to read, and illustrations of the people and Biblical figures mentioned in the text have been added.

This volume provides a concise, nontechnical historical introduction to the church's thinking about Mary, the mother of Jesus. The first part of the book sketches the development of Marian thought from the second century to the twentieth century. The second part contains an annotated bibliography of the most important and accessible English-language works on Mary. Tim Perry, an evangelical Anglican priest, and Daniel Kendall, a Roman Catholic Jesuit priest, have joined across the Reformation divide to provide an irenic, balanced volume for students and general readers interested in this most remarkable woman and the ways in which she has shaped Christian thought.

Readers, including Christians and non-Christians, will be eager to read this book because of the misconception on the virginity of Mary since this book provides answers using the facts in the Scripture to the question on the virginity of Mary, and it will lead people to the truth that Jesus Christ is the only Son of Mary. It will benefit Catholics to increase their faith based on the fact that Jesus is the only son of Mary and will enlighten other Christians and nonbelievers to have a change of mind and repent from dishonoring the Blessed Virgin Mary. This book forcefully and clearly explained the common mistakes that some people make on the perpetual virginity of Mary. People usually recount the Bible, saying that the brothers of Jesus, James, Joses, etc. are mentioned in the Bible; whereas the truth is clear in the scriptures that they are merely close relatives of Jesus. Using facts from the Old Testament and in the New Testament, this book clearly repudiated this common error on the assumption about the perpetual virginity of Mary. This approach of using scripture only in a way it has not been used before on this subject will make this book become a classic since it will be referenced for ages to come. Using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, I was able to gather facts from the Bible to develop this book that others have not presented previously. In my opinion, this is the first book on the virginity of Mary that outlined several truths contained in the Bible to support this subject. This book does not present truths that are based on tradition. This approach makes it easier for everyone to believe that the facts in this book are from the Bible only but were not made clear to them previously. Since the truths in this book are based on the Bible alone, it will increase the faith of Christians on this subject, providing them with answers that are based on the scriptures. Finally, this book is simply written in few pages so that the readers can quickly read and finish it. The reward of Mary accepting to be the mother of God and, consequently, the reward every child of God receives through her can be seen in Wisdom 7:26-27. The Virgin Mary brought great rewards to the wedding at Cana; she is still active today as the new Eve, looking after her children and giving us abundant blessings and God's favor.
