An “insightful cultural history of the mythical, self-immolating bird” from Ancient Egypt to contemporary pop culture by the author of The Book of Gryphons (Library Journal). The phoenix, which rises again and again from its own ashes, has been a symbol of resilience and renewal for thousands of years. But how did this mythical bird come to play a part in cultures around the world and throughout human history? Here, mythologist Joseph Nigg presents a comprehensive biography of this legendary creature. Beginning in ancient Egypt, Nigg’s sweeping narrative discusses the many myths and representations of the phoenix, including legends of the Chinese, where it was considered a sacred creature that presided over China’s destiny; classical Greece and Rome, where it appears in the writings of Herodotus and Ovid; medieval Christianity, in which it came to embody the resurrection; and in Europe during the Renaissance, when it was a popular emblem of royals. Nigg examines the various phoenix traditions, the beliefs and tales associated with them, their symbolic and metaphoric use, and their appearance in religion, bestiaries, and even contemporary popular culture, in which the ageless bird of renewal is employed as a mascot and logo. “An exceptional work of scholarship.”—Publishers Weekly

A half century after the oil runs out, America is a land of farming towns; decomposing cities; and vast, mostly uninhabited areas. Old people tell tales of the Modern Times and how they survived the period of collapse, while their grandchildren dream of the magic and technology lost to them. In this time, legends speak of the Phoenix Diary, a mysterious and powerful record that might be a formula for free energy to rebuild the lost civilization, an almanac for restoring earth to a Garden of Eden, or an ancient tome written by a man from the stars telling of mankind’s true beginning and ultimate destiny. Now three teenagers—Otero, Rhia, and Marc—set out to find the diary with the help of a clue found on an old computer and hints drawn from genetic memories. But a mysterious man pursues them relentlessly through the ruins of Denver into the Rocky Mountains; he knows the Phoenix Diary is everything the legends say and more. It is humanity’s past, present, and future. In this science fiction novel, three teens seeking a legendary diary race to stay ahead of an ancient warrior while learning about their past lives from their own genetic memories.

Adam and Eve were not the first man and woman on Earth, but they were certainly the first of a kind. When the Israelites made their exodus from Egypt, their spiritual leader was not Moses, but Miriam - a queen and high priestess of the pharaonic succession. Joseph, the father of Jesus, was not a humble carpenter, but a trained alchemical metallurgist of the highest order. These and other contentious facts are disclosed for the first time in this remarkable study of the original kings - the early Pendragons, the unique royal ancestors of King David and Jesus. Drawing on files and hitherto secret archives of the ancient Dragon Sovereignity,Genesis of the Grail Kingstells the ultimate story of earthly kingship from its early Mesopotamian foundation. It reveals why the Messianic bloodline was so important, and explains in detail the true heritage of the Holy Grail. The author draws comparisons throughout between the biblical scripture and the historical documents from which the Old Testament is derived, so that a very different and highly controversial picture emerges. Here are the documented records of the hermetic Phoenix, the Philosophers' Stone and the Tables of Testimony - records which give stunning insight into active longevity, the transmutation of gold and the anti-gravitational science of the pharaohs

Strange dreams of another life plague him, dreams of superheroes and monsters that become frighteningly real when a boy in red armour appears and accuses Riley of a betrayal from decades past, then kills him in revenge. There he discovers he is one of five people who were part of a group called the Knights of the Cosmic Grail. He is Brendan, Phoenix Knight of the Blazing Light. Dark forces beyond imagination have reappeared in that world, and he and the other knights must battle them. As he strives to adjust to life in a world that only existed in his childhood daydreams, he and his compatriots must find a way to work together. A full-color guide to the history, science, and spiritual uses of Moldavite • Shares the author’s transformational discovery of the magic of Moldavite • Looks at Moldavite energy tools, how to combine Moldavite with other gemstones, and how to use Moldavite to transmit healing energy to people and places • Includes powerful Moldavite meditations and hundreds of photos, allowing you to attune to Moldavite’s energy without even being in its direct presence Created from the cataclysmic impact of a huge meteorite, Moldavite is a gemstone that is neither heavenly nor earthly but something new that emerged from their union. Classed scientifically with tektites, these rare green celestial objects showered down over what is now the Czech Republic some 14.8 million years ago. In the mid-1980s, a series of synchronicities brought Moldavite into the hands of Robert Simmons, and he began sharing its powerful effects with the world. In this full-color guide, Simmons tells the story of his discovery of Moldavite’s magic, weaving his knowledge of the stone’s spiritual qualities together with scientific and historical data as well as channeled information. He explains how Neolithic peoples in Europe made Moldavite amulets and tools and how several Moldavite amulets were discovered in the same archaeological dig as the famous Venus of Willendorf, the earliest known Goddess figurine. The author describes his dramatic personal awakening and the surprising circumstances that brought Moldavite to the center of his life and career. He shares tales of crop circles and energy vortexes, his adventures in Moldavite country, and ET connections. Revealing how the science of Moldavite’s origins resonates with ancient mystical legends, the author explores Moldavite’s connections with the alchemical Emerald Tablet and the fabled Stone of the Holy Grail. He looks at Moldavite energy tools, including wands, pendulums, waters, essences, body layouts, and crystal grids. He explains how to use Moldavite in photonic layouts to transmit energy to people, places, and bodies of water in order to heal and revitalize them. He leads the reader through Moldavite meditations for expanding awareness, and his wife, Kathy, offers her insights into Moldavite’s purpose and power and how we can align with it. Throughout the book are hundreds of full-color images of beautiful raw pieces, carvings, jewelry, and gems, allowing you to attune to Moldavite’s energy without even being in its direct presence. Shining a light upon the starborn gem that unites spirit and matter, the author shows how Moldavite is—literally and figuratively—a joining of Heaven and Earth.

Richard Wagner And The English written by Anne Dzamba Sessa and has been published by Fairleigh Dickinson Univ Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1979 with England categories.

Wagner was more than a composer--he was a cultural phenomenon. The author seeks to explain this phenomenon. One claim is that Wagner's music dramas served to provide encouragement and inspiration to Victorians struggling with the problems of a changing and challenging era. Intellectual developments (including the theories of Charles Darwin and the impact of historical scholarship on Biblical studies) had struck a severe blow against religious orthodoxy. Thus, the English strove to retain their inherited or instinctive beliefs and at the same time to accept the conclusions of natural and social science. Frustrated by the academic arguments, many persons turned to less intellectual substitutes, including Wagnerism. Almost all of Wagner's plots involve some form of redemption and hunger for the infinite. The author also claims that Wagnerism drew on the Victorian need for social justice, and points out that just as many Wagnerians sought emancipation from confining materialist philosophies or simply delighted in sexual liberation.

A guide to the mystery teachings of the mineral kingdom for catalyzing spiritual growth and healing • Focuses on 7 essential crystal and gemstone mentors: obsidian, jade, lapis lazuli, emerald, quartz, amethyst, and diamond • Integrates crystal lore from around the world with mineral science to reveal the archetypal wisdom embodied within each stone • Provides crystal healing exercises and meditations on the specific spiritual work each stone archetype supports Stones and crystals are our most ancient teachers. The relationships between the mineral kingdom and the human kingdom are as old as life itself, for the mineral kingdom--comprised of beautiful crystals, dense rocks, sands, clays, and everything in-between--is the very foundation upon which life developed on Earth. Supporting humanity through the eons, these teachers offer curative and restorative properties for healing as well as powerful guidance to catalyze spiritual growth. Integrating gemstone lore from around the world with modern mineral science, Nicholas Pearson guides readers on a journey into the inner realm of the mystery teachings of the mineral kingdom, a journey that mirrors the soul’s path to perfection. He reveals the archetypal wisdom embodied within 7 essential crystal and gemstone mentors--obsidian, jade, lapis lazuli, emerald, quartz, amethyst, and diamond--examining each stone’s mythological, historical, and cultural associations in tandem with their crystalline structure and chemical composition. He explores each stone’s healing and spiritual properties, providing practical exercises, esoteric revelations, and meditations on the specific spiritual work each stone archetype supports. Obsidian, for example, is the stone of initiation, revealing our shadow side and guiding us to places in need of light. Diamond, the final perfected stone of the seven, illuminates Divine Love, purifying us and leading our consciousness to enlightenment, cutting through any vestiges of fear or illusion because it is the hardest, sharpest, most luminous teacher the mineral kingdom has to offer. Enabling each of us to harness the power of stones for spiritual evolution and healing, this guide to the mystery teachings of the mineral kingdom shows how the ancient call to evolve with the crystals and stones that surround us lives on in an unbroken legacy.
