If you search the scriptures, you will find in the book of Joshua 24:15, New King James Version, a message that reads, "If it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve." Joshua had gathered all the tribes of Israel and reminded them that their forefathers had served other gods and they needed to make a decision about the gods they would serve. Joshua loved his Jewish brothers and sisters and wanted them to realize that they had been given a choice: worship the true living God or worship one of the many false gods of their day. In today's culture, that same choice is before us all. We live in a society where political correctness is out of control. The line that separates right from wrong is beginning to disappear altogether. It seems to me that speaking common-sense truth these days is nearly impossible because many people are so easily offended. Just as Joshua loved his fellow human being enough to tell the truth in his day, that same love flows through me along with a great desire to speak truth in love to all mankind. We all have been given a choice by God to follow him, deny him, or chase after other gods. This book has been designed to inform you of all the choices there are in our world when it comes to religion, worship, doctrine, or even dismissing the idea of a God altogether. But remember this, the death rate for humans is 100 percent. Because of that terrifying reality, I pray the urgency to make your decision on this very important subject becomes your new priority. I believe the plain and simple truth in a dazed and confused world will give you the material you need to make your well-informed decision and settle this for good. Because if you're not living for truth, you're not living.

The Indian. The Foreigner. Isn’t it obvious they don’t share many things in common? In fact, they are quite the opposites with mutually contradicting egos. Like the tourist and the traveller who can’t possibly share the same sacred space for so long. Caught between this raging war of the egos while travelling through a hostile landscape, by sheer coincidence, a young man is forced to leave behind his formal education, his ego and possessions to surrender to a greater teacher – India. Call it bad luck, blind fate, or a series of unfortunate events. Or perhaps, a beautiful lesson in disguise?

Seven short stories created through nocturnal recitations into an old tape deck in 1971-72. The surreal social landscapes of possible improbabilities are peppered with magic realism, adolescent puns, and youthful exuberance. They are adventures in silliness and sincerity, hopefully, an inspiration to those who dream in non-linear fashion.

‘Extraordinary imagination . . . As the book races towards a mindboggling climax it leads the reader to some remarkable ideas about the nature of life, the universe and everything. Simply stunning.’ - Big Issue At Jodrell Bank a mysterious signal of extraterrestrial origin has been detected. Artificial intelligence expert Jack Fenwick thinks he can decode it. But when he and his associates at Hoxton tech startup Intelligencia find a way to step into the alien realm the signal encodes, they discover that it’s already occupied – by ghostly entities that may come from our own past. Have these ‘DMEn’ (Digital Memetic Entities) been created by persons unknown for just such an eventuality? Are they our first line of defence in a coming war, not for territory, but for our minds? XX presents a compelling vision of humanity’s unique place in the universe, and of what might happen in the wake of the biggest scientific discovery in human history. As compelling as it is visually striking, Rian Hughes’ first novel incorporates NASA transcripts, newspaper and magazine articles, fictitious Wikipedia pages, undeciphered alphabets, and ‘Ascension’, a forgotten novelette by 1960s counterculture guru Herschel Teague that mysteriously foreshadows events. Wrapping stories within stories, Rian Hughes’ XX unleashes the full narrative potential of graphic design. Drawing on Dada, punk and the modernist movements of the twentieth century, it asks us who we think we are – and where we may be headed next. The battle for your mind has already begun.

Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race,” a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of black women and men—bodies exploited through slavery and segregation, and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’s attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son. Coates shares with his son—and readers—the story of his awakening to the truth about his place in the world through a series of revelatory experiences, from Howard University to Civil War battlefields, from the South Side of Chicago to Paris, from his childhood home to the living rooms of mothers whose children’s lives were taken as American plunder. Beautifully woven from personal narrative, reimagined history, and fresh, emotionally charged reportage, Between the World and Me clearly illuminates the past, bracingly confronts our present, and offers a transcendent vision for a way forward.

The final word on the world's greatest rock band, Led Zeppelin. They were 'the last great band of the sixties; the first great band of the seventies'; they rose, somewhat unpromisingly, from the ashes of the Yardbirds to become one of the biggest-selling rock bands of all time. Mick Wall, respected rock writer and former confidant of both Page and Plant, unflinchingly tells the story of the band that wrote the rulebook for on-the-road excess - and eventually paid the price for it, with disaster, drug addiction and death. WHEN GIANTS WALKED THE EARTH reveals for the first time the true extent of band leader Jimmy Page's longstanding interest in the occult, and goes behind the scenes to expose the truth behind their much-hyped yet spectacularly contrived comeback at London's O2 arena last year, and how Jimmy Page plans to bring the band back permanently - if only his former protégé, now part-time nemesis, Robert Plant will allow him to. Wall also recounts, in a series of flashbacks, the life stories of the five individuals that made the dream of Led Zeppelin into an even more incredible and hard-to-swallow reality: Page, Plant, John Paul Jones, John Bonham, and their infamous manager, Peter Grant. The culmination of several years research, this book tells the full, shocking story of Led Zeppelin from the inside, written by someone who has known Jimmy Page for over twenty years.

Out On Assignment written by Alice Fahs and has been published by Univ of North Carolina Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-11-17 with Social Science categories.

Out on Assignment illuminates the lives and writings of a lost world of women who wrote for major metropolitan newspapers at the start of the twentieth century. Using extraordinary archival research, Alice Fahs unearths a richly networked community of female journalists drawn by the hundreds to major cities--especially New York--from all parts of the United States. Newspaper women were part of a wave of women seeking new, independent, urban lives, but they struggled to obtain the newspaper work of their dreams. Although some female journalists embraced more adventurous reporting, including stunt work and undercover assignments, many were relegated to the women's page. However, these intrepid female journalists made the women's page their own. Fahs reveals how their writings--including celebrity interviews, witty sketches of urban life, celebrations of being "bachelor girls," advice columns, and a campaign in support of suffrage--had far-reaching implications for the creation of new, modern public spaces for American women at the turn of the century. As observers and actors in a new drama of independent urban life, newspaper women used the simultaneously liberating and exploitative nature of their work, Fahs argues, to demonstrate the power of a public voice, both individually and collectively.
