An inspirational self-improvement guide from a leader in personal and organizational accountability. Every day, we are faced with decisions from the moment we wake up until the moment we go to bed. Decisions about our families, our business, our futures. We are accountable for making decision, big and small, the cast the paths of our lives. So why do we spend so much time finger-pointing and blaming others? Mark Samuel is a master of accountability. In his book, teaches us how to go from victim to accountable and how to actually do what we say we are going to do. Taking ownership of the power of personal choice, regardless of the obstacles, means not only walking the talk but knowing what talk you are going to walk. Faced with fear of blame, fear of failure and fear of success, Samuel provides inspiration and strategy for impacting the world by achieving your goals. One of Samuel's main arguments in owning accountability is recognizing your current reality. He challenges readers to embrace certain "tools" that can place us in the right frame of mind to accept responsibility and accomplish all of our set goals both individually and as team members including: ·Compassion: in taking accountability, also creating solutions that consider the welfare of all parties involved and for the entire organization in general. ·Openness: let each member of the team, regardless of rank, have a chance to speak up and share their perspective in problem-solving ·Sincerity: acknowledge the current reality with honesty yet without judgment. Call it what it is without criticizing at this stage From identifying the common roadblocks to accountability to focusing on the factor of forgiveness in taking responsibility, Samuel shows readers how to effectively stop the cycle of victimhood and blaming and shows us how to engage in the "accountability loop," a process of pragmatic self-examination, recognition and owning, and action. Using examples from the worlds of business, sports, parables and his own life story, Samuel highly-praised accountability lessons are now available for anyone to learn from.

Presidential Power And Accountability written by Bruce Buchanan and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013 with Executive power categories.
Many analysts now believe that the growth of presidential war power relative to Congress is irreversible. This book was written to contest that view. Its purpose is to identify what would be required to restore presidential war power to constitutional specifications while leaving the president powerful enough to do what is truly necessary in the face of any emergency. Buchanan focuses mainly on diagnosing the origins of the problem and devising practical ways to work toward restoration of the constitutional balance of power between Congress and the president. The work begins by showing the lack of clear, widely shared standards whose enforcement is needed to sustain the balance of power and draws on the thinking of the founders and political theorists to crystallize such standards. Next it details how, in the absence of standards, agents such as Congress and the Supreme Court with formal influence on presidents and informal agents such as media and public opinion have unwittingly enabled unnecessary power expansion, such as the presidential 'wars of choice'. Of course change of this magnitude cannot be expected to happen quickly. Remedies necessarily involve a reform architecture intended to unfold gradually, with the first step being simply to start a focused conversation (another purpose of this book). Buchanan moves toward specific remedies by identifying the structure and strategy for a new think tank designed to nudge the political system toward the kind of change the book recommends. Lastly, the book shows how a fictional policy trial could take a practical step toward in rebalancing the war power. This is a crucial examination of presidential power and the U.S. separation of powers system, with a focused effort on making a course correction toward the kind of power sharing envisioned in the Constitution.

'The Power of Labelling illuminates a fundamental and intriguing dimension of social and political life. Striking cases from a range of policy contexts generate eyeopening analyses of labelling's causes and consequences, uses and abuses, and of alternatives in thinking and relating.' DES GASPER, INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL STUDIES, THE HAGUE The authors convincingly and often vividly explain how the unavoidable framings and labellings of the objects of policy secrete relations of power which can obscure as much as they reveal and often lead, in policy itself, to perverse outcomes. Their detail is riveting, their analyses persuasive, what they suggest realistic and deeply sensible. This immensely readable collection is indispensable for anyone who wants to think about how they think about 'development', and should be forced on all who don't.' GEOFFREY HAWTHORN, PROFESSOR OF INTERNATIONAL POLITICS, UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE This is an essential book not only for those interested in understanding the development industry but also for development practitioners. It discusses key questions concerning the ways in which knowledge is generated by development agencies and reaffirms the importance of understanding who categorizes people, why and how.' R. L. STIRRAT, PROFESSOR OF SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX 'Very important.' Martin Kalungu-Banda, Oxfam GB What does it mean to be part of the mass known as ?The Poor What visions are conjured up in our minds when someone is labelled ?Muslim What assumptions do we make about their needs, values and politics? How do we react individually and as a society? Who develops the labels, what power do they carry and how do such labels affect how people are treated? This timely book tackles the critical and controversial issue of how people are labelled and categorized, and how their problems are framed and dealt with. Drawing on vast international experience and current theory, the authors examine how labels are constituted and applied by a variety of actors, including development policy makers, practitioners and researchers. The book exposes the intense and complex politics involved in processes of labelling, and highlights how the outcomes of labelling can undermine stated development goals. Importantly, one of the book's principal objectives is to suggest how policy makers and professionals can tackle negative forms of labelling and encourage processes of ?counter-labelling?, to enhance poverty reduction and human rights, and to tackle issues of race relations and global security. The Afterword encapsulates these ideas ands provides a good basis for reflection, further debate and action.

Accountability In Eu Security And Defence written by Carolyn Moser and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-21 with Law categories.
Currently, some 2,500 civilian experts work across Europe, Africa, and Asia in ten ongoing civilian missions launched under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). Mandates cover a broad range of multidimensional tasks, such as rule of law support, law enforcement capacity building, or security sector reform. Numerous (recent) incidents from the field underscore that there are serious institutional as well as procedural weaknesses and irregularities tied to accountability in these EU peacebuilding missions. This title offers a comprehensive legal analysis and empirical study of accountability concerning the Union's peacebuilding endeavours, also referred to as civilian crisis management. Along with examining the governance credentials of EU peacebuilding, the monograph thoroughly scrutinizes de jure and de facto accountability arrangements of political, legal, and administrative nature existing in the domestic sphere, at EU level, and across levels. With a view to providing for a nuanced picture, the assessment further distinguishes between different accountability finalities and evaluates the appropriateness of existing accountability arrangements in civilian crisis management based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative criteria.
