Chromotherapy is an alternative medicine that uses colors as a therapy for the treatment of diseases. Chromotherapy has very ancient origins, since traditional medicines have always attributed great importance to the influence of colors on man's health and mood. Chromotherapy practices were known since Ancient Egypt: Egyptian mythology assigns the god Thot the discovery of chromotherapy. According to hermetic tradition, both the Egyptians and the Greeks made use of minerals, stones, crystals and colored ointments, as well as painting the walls of the places of treatment. Chromotherapy can be applied alone or as an enhancement to other treatments, being a formidable "catalyst" for stimulating natural self-healing processes. People who suffer physically or psychologically can profitably associate chromotherapy with any treatment (allopathic, homeopathic, physiotherapy, reflexology) because it stimulates the natural disposal of toxins mobilized by the active ingredients of the products, cleaning and protecting the whole organism. This treatment can be practiced on three levels: · Physical treatment, on a sore, infected or traumatized area of the body, to solve skin or rheumatological problems · Eye treatment, a central regulation treatment that stimulates both body and mind. The color is, in fact, perceived through the eyelids as sunlight and influences the patient's psyche. Recommended in case of tiredness, stress and sleep disturbances. · Acupuncture treatment, aimed at certain organs, and serves to recharge and naturally heal the ailments of the body.

A unique study of lectionaries and graphic design as a site of biblical reception How artists portrayed the Bible in large canvas paintings is frequently the subject of scholarly exploration, yet the presentation of biblical texts in contemporary graphic designs has been largely ignored. In this book Amanda Dillon engages multimodal analysis, a method of semiotic discourse, to explore how visual composition, texture, color, directionality, framing, angle, representations, and interactions produce potential meanings for biblical graphic designs. Dillon focuses on the artworks of two American graphic designers—the woodcuts designed by Meinrad Craighead for the Roman Catholic Sunday Missal and Nicholas Markell’s illustrations for the worship books of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America—to present the merits of multimodal analysis for biblical reception history.

How is ecothinking articulated in varied research fields? What are the conjunctions and concurrences of academic endeavors in the attempt to curb environmental destruction? This collection of essays offers a multifaceted exploration of the basic tenets of environmentalism proposed by academic curricula across the world. Ecodestruction, the wilderness, rampant pollution, tourism developments, sustainability, educational interventions, and the plurivocal turn to ecotheoretical textual analysis are some of the critical perspectives and scientific findings investigated here. The book introduces a multilateral understanding of environmental consciousness, and suggests that the study of nature should not be compartmentalized into separate fields of analyses, but aim for the interconnections between disciplines, given that the physical cosmos is an unambiguous and finite host of humanity’s endeavours. The volume appeals to academics, researchers and professionals with a particular interest in the current environmental crisis, offers solid insights into the ways human societies construe nature and hopefully will embark on the protection of the ecosphere.
